If it make you happy you can keep on believing that the iPhone is still the best selling smart phone in the world but pretty much all news/sales articles say otherwise.  Also even if it where the case Samsung still utterly destoys Apple in total cell phone sales.

No matter the evidence he will repeat the same things over and over. He claims the usage is simpler lol, it is completely opposite. The skeumorphic design in ios makes everything difficult the navigate and the lack of the back button is a nightmare. Without jailbreaking it is a pain in the ass to change the settings lol, and yet it is simpler to use?

Itunes listed as a plus is simply mind-blowing.

It seems that this tidbit of information is taken lightly by some of the comments, not all.

This is important, because in the next 3 years, this battle between apple and android will come to heads.

This was Apple's market, they introduced the next step to cell phones.  Look back 5 years ago and you can see a major shift in design and overall marketing for phones. 

This was Apple's huberus.  If you wanted Apple OS, you have to get an apple phone.  If you want android, you have samsung, Motorola, Nokia, HTC, etc.  The Iphone 5 will become stale in another 6 months and we'll see another Iphone 5 v2.0. 

This is going to be another Apple and Microsoft all over again.

What you are not taking into consideration is that Nokia and HTC are moving fully towards WP8 and I wonder how long it will be before Samsung and Sony move a little that way as well.

Not even remotely true. The Galaxy S3 sold 30 million units in a little over 5 months.

A supply-constrained iPhone 5 sold five million units on its launch weekend. 

This doesn't bode too well for W8 phones. Even with Nokia deal some were praising not too long ago, the Windows phone marketshare dropped YOY. I'm sure it can claim some of its marketshare back, but I dont think we'll see it at 10% like some were predicting anytime sooon, if at all.

Also, Android is awesome. I know some people say its the only OS that doesn't sell phones because of its OS, for whatever poor excuse they give, but they are dead wrong. I know me and my. Friends have been using Android phones for years, and will continue to do so. And I know there are many more out there like us. Android, like Apple/iOS, has become one of those "cool" OSs to use. Its also very functional to boot.

Sorry dude but iPhone sells more than all Galaxy together... that's a fact... Galaxy sold more in August and September becuase the iPhone sales slowdown waiting iPhone 5 release and the lauch have supply issues.

All Galaxy together don't have over 50 million lifetime sales... iPhone have just in the last year over 100 million.

There are lots of variations, like i9001 Galaxy S plus  etc. which are basically the same phone for different carriers, markets etc. 

By that logic I can safely say that XBOX 360 is at 70 million while PS3 is only 30 million. PS3 is dead, everybody is buying 360 etc. Can't bother.

Anyway, this isn't that surprising. The advantage of Android is that it is open and scalable over a wide range of devices. Apple only make a few devices and try to optimise for those devices but even then it doesn't always work out that well on some of the older devices if my partners iPhone4 is anything to go by. Either way, the Android market share will continue to grow. However, Windows Phone 8 will be one to look out for in the future especially if Nokia can succeed with the Lumia 920.
