My TV only goes up to 1080i so I don't care lol

And you need to start approach 30 inches in size before you begin to notice 1080 anyhow.

As a PC gamer, all I have to say to that is NO.

This article has the chart I wanted to post:

http://carltonbale.com/1080p-does-matter/

What the chart shows is that, for a 50-inch screen, the benefits of 720p vs. 480p start to become apparent at viewing distances closer than 14.6 feet and become fully apparent at 9.8 feet. For the same screen size, the benefits of 1080p vs. 720p start to become apparent when closer than 9.8 feet and become full apparent at 6.5 feet. In my opinion, 6.5 feet is closer than most people will sit to their 50″ plasma TV (even through the THX recommended viewing distance for a 50″ screen is 5.6 ft). So, most consumers will not be able to see the full benefit of their 1080p TV.

The point is, that how much the resolution is depends on the distance and size of screen.  On a small enough screen, it doesn't matter.  Speaking videogames here actually.

So... Has Activision said anything besides the Wii U version of BLOPs would be in full HD? Until they say it's in 1080p I can't be sure it is. Though that is what Full HD means, they could have also meant that unlike the Wii, the Wii U version will be completely in HD.

Screen size and viewing distance are what matter. He was partially right, and you're partially right.

For doing desktop work on a PC, I won't deny that resolution can't help.  But, for the case of moves and console video games, where you aren't right up in front of it, that is a different animal.

I don't see the CoD fanbase moving from 360 to the Wii U anytime soon. Timed exclusivity for map packs and the like will always go to 360... and the fanbase is already there, obviously.

I couldn't watch more than the first few seconds because of that fake sounding voice. Also, I hate video game commentators because I feel like they take the industry too seriously and they are all whiners. That's why I wish that vgchartz would release more articles instead of that dumb bearded gamer crap. haha. You have a beard and your name is the bearded gamer. Good one. 0_o Seriously, videos like this and others make me ashamed of gaming as a whole.

I don't really care about HD, I gave away my HDMI cable to a family member over 5 years ago and have been fine with SD for the most part.

At times when I am watching movies I miss it but I don't care that much for graphics unless they are horrible.

how do you know how much his viewing distance is?

Was just commenting on resolution not really mattering, if the screen is smaller, and his TV being 1080i would likely be sufficient.  Still frame, I believe 1080i and 1080p look the same, just 1080p refreshes twice as fast as 1080i.

1080i is lower resolution.  You could say it is 1920x540.

P.S. For everyone that has a  TV that is HDready and "supports"1080i  The TV is still only able to provide 720p at max and so it downscales the 1080i image to fit your 720p screen.   So if you have a 1080i TV then please chose 720p as option in your consoles or any other device you have.

It just internaly translates 1080i signals to "720p" this creates a quality loss and is made because of some TV channels broadcasting in 1080i and if  your TV could not translate 1080i to HDReady  you would see a  OUT OF RANGE  screen.
(It is no real 720p I just said it that way for better understanding)

I agree. Wii U is ruining blops, too, in 1O8O

Seeing as they've been so careful with their wording, I'm under the impression that it'll be the first console version of their game that's fully rendered natively in HD (meaning 720p, as opposed to 640p or less for previous versions).  Regardless, nothing has actually been confirmed and this thread certainly wasn't created in order to bring on constructive conversations.  It exists for the OP to say, "My speculation is right and yours is wrong, and the proof lies in the fact that someone on the internet agrees with me and made a video about it".  There's actually no outrage anywhere. there are simply a good number of people opposing this assumption about COD:BO2, and/or that Wii U is that much of a powerhouse console.  The only outrage I've ever actually witnessed are those reacting to people like myself that present a rational disagreement with the assumptions of the OP.
