I only really ever play MP parts of a game if they are easy to get trophies and they are essential for a platinum trophy. SO for UC2 and UC3 I played one Co-op match and one MP match and that was it.

I'm OK with tacked on MP where the SP experience is great. What I hate is tacked on SP for a game that's primarily for MP. Like Starhawk. It's basic premise had great potential for a SP story and fun game, but all it is is a training exercise for MP with a minimalist motion comic story.

I would be very tempted to play Ratchet and Clank MP. But I still want it first and foremost for SP.

I just do not like online Multiplayer games. Couch-Coop is fine, i love playing with my wife.

But the main problem of online gaming is the online community. The PR talk is trying to make us believe that online is the future. But I think it is just easier to develop an online game mode than a true singeplayer game, where you have to write a story, develop interesting characters and put much effort into the level design. A singleplayer game has to have a soul that keeps you interested... Online multiplayer mode rely on the fact that you only need a competitive mode.

Online gaming ... to cope with cheating, quitting and people that insult you via headset because they feel safe and anonymous while they are online.

How come that Software companies often tell us that their new technology are revolutionizing the world... Sure, the dotcom-bubble lead to a severe economic crisis. Ok, social Media is the next big thing?... Web2.0 is the next big fail. Facebook, groupon and zynga destroyed around $ 60.000.000.000 of stock value since their IPO.

How many games really sold more copies due to online multiplayer modes? I dont know, but I know some games where the mulitplayer rooms were deserted soon after launch and you had to boost the online trophies.

i don't think they are dying. yes we will get almost no singleplayer only games in the future in some genres except for some indie-games and other games will be only multiplayer but most games will have both and most of them won't be much wort as they were without multiplayer. the problem why in my opinion some franchises aren't like they were in the past isn't multiplayer, it's the "i want to see explosions and fast paced action every three meter, if in single or multiplayer" crowd which made games like resident evil to what they are.

personally i have no problems with it, the singleplayer experiences of most games are still good for me and i'm adaptive so i can also live very good with the change in many franchises from what they were to what they are now. sometimes i even prefer it.

and at least i was always a big multiplayer fan^^ if it was on snes with secret of mana or super tennis, n64 with goldeneye or dreamcast and soul calibur, playing with friends was always a big part of my gaming life. i love halo in singleplayer but i love it even more with friends in coop mode. same was with ghost recon advanced warfighter 2 or other games, i can't really understand why people don't like to play the games with friends and want to play it alone, it's not as if your friends would scream like idiots all the time like some randoms in multiplayer and sure, a game like amnesia has to be a singleplayer experience.

nooooo dont leave the site lol

i dont see why people complain, if the single player is awesome and you got multiplayer then its a GOOD thing!! just look at unhcarted, the single player is amazing and they also give you an awesome multiplayer! and to be honest im VERY excited that God of War is getting multiplayer! it means im gonna play the game much much more!

Why is he leaving anyways? Seems like he is just looking for attention.

Why ask for the perma ban? The mods piss ya off? The Doomz have come less frequently? or your so Pissed about multiplat that you hope VGCHARTZ will use their power of the gaming gods to sway the software giants in order to keep you from leaving while saving your single player game experience? sounds like that is the best way to go about it. I will think to threaten vgchartz the next time games are not going in the direction that I would like. Must Write this down........................................................................................................................................................DONE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH Now I hold the power.

It's not that single-players gamers are "dying" it's just developers trying to give the customer "more bang for their buck" as long as the game doesn't compromise the single-player then it shouldn't really matter. some of the games you mention have a much longer single campaign than their predecessors(God of War: Ascension, Resident Evil 6, Dead Space 3)

unless it's a RPG, it doesn't hurt to give people a little more incentive to buy their product

P.S even if you leave you will turn into a lurker...you know you will

The games you mentioned aren't out yet...

I know that, it just that some of the games series that he mentioned  the latest versions will "supposedly"be longer than their predecessors: Santa Monic said after gamescom or PAX that GoW: A will be longer than anyother so far. Resdident Evil 6 has 3 major storylines(along with a 4th with Ada Wong), and one of the workers on Dead space 3 said that Dead space would be longer than 2(shortly after E3)

Agreed, One of the only games that made me appreciate this gen was Bioshock and it did not need multiplayer to do it. The sad thing about your list, is that their are many many more then what was listed. It would take forever to list them all. One game where I feel the singleplayer was great and multiplayer was good was Halo 2. Then Halo 3 they went to focus on multiplayer and the singleplayer just wasn't good to me imo.

That's an interesting point of view. I myself found the single player in Halo 3 far more enjoyable than that of Halo 2 (even though I agree that Halo 2 has a more complex storyline).

I enjoyed/still enjoy Halo 2's campaign, but it has a slightly cheap feel to it, in my opinion. The vehicles feels like they are made of plastic, combat is mostly close-corner and all forms of exploration (which I think is part of what made the predecessor so epic) was completely disregarded. Sure the last point applies to Halo 3 as well, but other than that I think they made an excellent job in returning to the series' roots. All with a fresh feel to it.

OT: I have to agree with most posters: This is not an issue in most cases. Dead Space 2 introduced multiplayer to the series, but the single player experience remained mostly intact (bar a little less focus on horror and more focus on action. I think they found the perfect balance though). It essentially was a harmless addition. Same can't be said about Dead Space 3 where they let the co-op campaign drag down the single player experience, but that's a separate issue which does not touch this topic.

Adding multiplayer is completely harmless; provided it's done right

Are we allowed to request perm bans still? I thought that stopped.

Last one we had requested was within the last week, I think.
