Forums - Sales - Global SW&HW up! (15th September)

I expected more from Darksiders 2 by this point.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Poor Transformers. Activision should have brought that game also to the Wii U along with the Prime game to get a few more sales.

My point is that not all of those games listed were even remotely hyped as a saving grace. Some of them were disappointments in sales overall but things like Disgaea and MLB aren't known for selling millions in the first place. And unproven new IPs like SoundShapes and Gravity Rush don't tend to sell millions either unless they are on a console that has sold millions of systems already. LBP, AC, and CoD might only have a few week boosts, but those are games that can at least be cited as reasons people may buy the system. Not ports of older games and unproven franchises.

The reason I brought up internet hype is because there are a lot of websites where the sites have devoted following towards one game and will tout how excited they are for a game, and that game will not sell millions of copies (i.e. Disgaea, MLB: The Show, Persona, Tales of series, Fire Emblem, Alan Wake, Ratchet & Clank, the list goes on and on). Some of these games you would think should be selling as much as Call or Duty or Assassin's Creed, but it's simply not going to happen.

Come on, Gravity Rush was so hyped up to be THE game to own. People are still trying to sell it as the game of the forever for the Vita. Resistance was hyped similarly until the point the reviews rolled in. Sound Shapes was hyped to a certain degree. I own all of those games. Jonnys list might not be entirely accurate but the point stands, we are going from savior to savior without finding one yet. Nitpicking about the actual list doesn't change the message.

Edit: I clearly remember back in april when people thought the Vita would have an sbolutely beastly month of june with Sonys big three, Resistance, LBP and Gravity Rush.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

i thought the wii was supposed to have won this gen? its completly dropped off. btw if you havent already buy the last story its actually quite good

3DS is actually pretty mediocre considering the new model launched only a few weeks ago (and Mario)

That is what happens when they re-launch a system and only give it one launch game.....Mario.

As far as it was performing before that though it's not too bad. (You can also see the Miku spike below.)

PS3 outsells Wii 3:1.. wii is priced at $149 an bundled with new super mario bros..

PS3 is priced at $249, and bundled at $299

no one.. except a couple of people including myself believed this would be a common thing this generation.. two years ago people would have died laughing at the thought that the ps3 would outsell the wii even 2:1 on a consistent basis anytime during this console generation...

Well you were bound to be right on one of your predictions eventually.  Not that it matters now, WiiU is due, next gen has started. Did you ever post this prediction? Just curious.

I remember people predicting it when the PS3 started to challenge in Japan.

"Trends always start in Japan." - It seems to work for most things.

I can agree they were overhyped but most of those games weren't viewed as "saviors" for the system. Of course thinking back, it's probably because of the PS3 list of "Saviors" when it wasn't doing well were much larger games overall.

One game never specifically "saves" Playstation. The same thing happened with the PS3. It's more like an accumulation of really good games mixed with stategic bundling. I know I didn't buy a Vita because of only 1 game. Maybe I am in the minority though.

No, I agree with you 100%. But many people still think that there can be another single game, another Monster Hunter, that sparks vita sales singlehandedly to a point that the system is saved and everyone jumps aboard.

First thing I found - but we all know I'm right.

PM me for futher discussion, thanks.

I'm good, I'll see you in next week's sales thread for your regular "3DS great, Vita awful" post.

Or his legendary 'Tagging' posts on the Japan Up threads.

How is it that PS3 has been outselling Xbox for weeks now and yet the gap goes under 1.9 million? I think the gap has closed 0.1 mil in the past several months even though PS3 sells alot more every week.
