New Super Mario Bros. U is the only launch game I'm interested in and unfortunately it's not enough to get me to open my wallet. But it's common for a launch lineup to not have enough must own games for me. The only system I've ever stood in line on launch day for was Dreamcast, and even it's incredible launch games were barely enough for me.
If Nintendo had launched with even just one big 3D Mario game or Zelda or Metroid I'd buy it on day one just for it. But I'm starting to feel a little fatigued by the New Super Mario Bros. series. If it had been based on SMB2:US I'd probably go nuts, but NSMBU is almost identical to the other NSMB games.
ZombiU doesn't appeal to me, I've never been a Pikimin fan, and I still haven't played Rayman Origins even though the disc is sitting in my stack of Xbox 360 games right now. I'll get to it, but I have so many games backlogged I don't know when I will. So there's no reason for me to buy a system for Rayman Legends when it will go multiplatform before I get around to playing the first one. As for Bayonetta, well the genre isn't my cup of tea.
The rest of the game's I'd want are all multiplatform and many I already played like Mass Effect 3 and Batman AC. I think Nintendo is going to have some difficulty selling the Wii U to people with a PS3 or a 360. All die hard Nintendo fans who never bought a 360 or PS3 will be there day one, because for them it really is the best lineup of all time. But for people who have a 360 or PS3 the list is filled with games they can play on the system they have now and with Achievements or Trophies.
Like I said, I almost never buy hardware at launch. I've only done it once. If Nintendo had even just one of my favorite Nintendo series at launch I would probably get it. But since they don't I'll be waiting for when 3D Mario, Zelda, or Metroid hit. Not being an early adopter usually saves me money too.
