Sounds like you just may not be a fan of Crysis. Too much nitpick. ;) |
The problem is that if a game is trying to be super realistic, I'm going to be more critical of how realistic it is. Am I alone on this? Honestly though, look at the turtle in the beginning, it very very shakily moves around which seems very abnormal. My Chao in Sonic Adventure 2 never did that! :P
Actually, I know I'm not alone on that. The new crysis 3 trailer starts off with a bird flying, and it looks really inorganic with its motions. The frog jumping looked very inorganic as well. I wasn't the only one bugged by it, as all of my friends at work said they thought it was a bad idea to start a trailer with such a blocky bird animation. I have nothing against the Crysis series, I'm just speaking my mind.
How does motion blur add realism? I want to hear the real argument for it, not just the conclusion. In real life we don't shake our vision and blur our vision like that at all.

If you don't have it yet, buy Crysis on Steam right now for $4.99 and check it out yourself...

Erm.. you realise that Crysis can be run at a resolution greater than 1080P, at better than 60 fps?
Wipeout is a great looking game - as are several other PS3 games. But Crysis (and Crysis Warhead) managed to combine it's open world, physics systems and amazing graphics engine in a way no other game has been able to since its release (even Crysis 2) :(
| CGI-Quality said: As for the Crysis 3 stuff, I've yet to discuss my feelings on it (excpt that I don't think it looks better than Far Cry 3). However, my OP wasn't regarding the series, just the original Crysis. |
"I don't mind any other games being discussed / added to the subject (I'm actually kind of up for a casual debate on the best looking games - which would mean a PC-only discussion, of course)"
Oh! My bad. I'll just leave you to it. ;)
EDIT: I realize I may have misunderstood your post. I thought you were implying that I was going off topic and that you didn't want to discuss Crysis 3, but now I realize I may have misinterpreted it. :P The main point I was trying to make there is that the turtle felt very inorganic much like the animals from the C3 trailer (to help put it in perspective). I think the trutles look fantastic, but their movements were not great at all to me.

Guys so I was watching all these videos and they look stunningly gorgeous. Minus a few details here and there, but much better than whatever I've ever played (yes, I haven't touched BF3 nor TW2).
Anyways I was curious, who the hell makes these mods!? And how lol.
I wonder when will release the next jaw dropping game that makes us go gaga over it like Crysis did in 2007.
As far as I'm concerned, no game yet was announced that meets that requirement.
the crazy thing with these impressive youtube videos is, that it looks shit on youtube compared to the original.

I like this thread. Please. Entertain me with more.
Video in OP looks awesome. Reminds me of when I first played Half-Life 2: Episode 2 on max settings at 900p. Just stunning. Of course that was 4 years ago. But damn, Crysis is a beautiful game and an even better benchmark ;)
