Stay out of the bar too. The first week is going to suck ass. Then it's get's better from there. I've actually started switching over to and E cig. you can reduce your nicotine intake over time.

Keep counting the days and be excited when meeting your targets! When asked, be happy to refuse, because you know it's a step closer to your victory. Good luck man
One little trick. You may want to replace holding on to a cigarette with something else, maybe a water bottle that looks cool, with some juice or water in it to keep hydrated and keep the gastro-intestinal channels flowing :) Toothpics? I didn't try these when I had quit, I used the first trick, but if I had to try again I would do that. I'd also find a friend to do some physical exercises with and keep me accountable and have fun doing it.
Wow great advise guys! I feel this thread will keep me afloat. I know that when times are tough for me I can come back and refer to the great advise.
This is quite the caring community we got here, even with all the bickering we do at each other.
Gaming Away Life Since 1985

I rarely post, and pretty much never when its related to something other than games, but I feel inclined to reply. As someone who has both friends who are longtime addicts and friends who have successfully quit, I always try to chime in when I can.
I know its incredibly hard, but more and more people have been successful than ever. Something that disgusts me about smoking is the fact that companies specifically manufacture tobacco to make you addicted. They make a killing off folks that get addicted and do whatever they can to keep them addicted. Just keep reminding yourself that you're doing exactly what they don't need/want you to do. There is some satisfaction of being rebellious, and when they have no personal stake in your health, stick it to them.
Having a loved one do this with you can be a blessing and a curse.Im not a competitive guy but you guys need to be able to compete with each other to best the others weakness.
Anyway, cheers to you. I hope I can find this thread in a year and read about your success.
Start playing WoW (or some other MMO) and you'll forget about your smoking addiction entirely.
I'll see you in two months in your new thread to help you quit your MMO addiction! Best of luck until then.

I used the micro tablets when I quit. They were pretty good I was on them for 4 weeks. Been over 5 years since Ive smoked. I still miss it to be honest.
Replace it with drugs, seriously, a can of Rockstar a day can do wonders for your mood and focus. If your gf goes back to smoking tell her your going to sleep with another chick who doesn't smoke. And be serious.

Step 1: Don't smoke
Step 2: If you do smoke besure do punish yourself some way (get someone to sprits water at you or stab yourself in the leg). Or view this image the entire time you smoke:

Step 3: Become a hermit. Go in the woods far away from civilization, build a house and live off the land for a year, make sure you brought zero smokes, you'll be so focused on trying to survive against bears and laser shooting mammoths that you won't even remember that you smoke.
