Going by Vitas Top 10 on this site (including Uncharted etc.) the score is 3.0 million for NSMB2 and 2.93 million for the PSV top 10.
I also find it quite remarkable that europe sells the most 3DS consoles right now but has the fewest NSMB2 and Pokemon sales. What the heck are the people over here doing with this thing? |
That's a really good question. Could it just be Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7?

Mario Kart 7 bundle? (If it's already out in Europe)

I just looked it up. Seems like it arrives on the 16th. Man that is a nice-looking console. Why can't we get a white 3DS in North America?

| dahuman said: This is not even fair tbh, we are look at Mario on a currently 20 million install base hardware vs a 3 million install base hardware with mostly no world wide known franchise to the general public, Vita is going to get raped just by looking at the install base alone even if you add the top 10 games together for a long while unless it picks up over the holidays which I seriously doubt would make too much difference in numbers of Vita that will be out there by new years. |
That is kind of the point. It shows that nintendo can outsell the Vita with one game alone.
I think if you pit all Mario games on Wii against the top ten of any other console, Mario will still win
New Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros Brawl
If that doesn't do it, then add in those Mario Party and Mario Sports games... and pretty soon all other gaming sales numbers will look puny
My point is... Vita has some great games that haven't found quite the audience they deserve and Mario is a great franchise that always sells really well.
McDonalds sells more burgers than anybody else... but not necessarily the best burgers for everybody.
Oh man, now I am hungry for more of those awesome Mario Galaxy burgers...

I was at my local game store the other day and happened to see the Top 8 3DS games: Professor Layton, NSMB2, something else, Super Mario 3D Land, something else, Mario Kart, Zelda OoT
Or something like that...
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
I know I haven't updated this in a month, so here's the short version: NSMB2 is ahead by nearly a million sales, even taking Assassin's Creed and LBP Vita into account. The number should fall as those games leg and Call of Duty launches, but I don't think NSMB2 is going to lose.

You are still missing the slaes for Little Deviants from the Vita list. It was never released at retail in Japan so all of its boxed sales are from 2012.

The gap should keep growing, because the 3DS and NSMB2 will have a gigantonormous holiday season in comparison to the Vita. |
I'm cynically assuming that at least half a million fools will purchase CoD for the Vita. My guess is that the trend will be reversed for about one week before NSMB2 goes back to kicking ass.
