"A gathering place for avatars, all of which represent gamers you know or live near, all conglomerating around icons representing games they're playing, all text-chirping about their status in the games"

reminds me a lot of ps home

I've used home quite a few times. That wouldn't be how I would describe and this doesn't look anything like it.

how would you describe home differently?

sure the avatars don't congregate around icons, i'd change that, but otherwise it seems about the same to me

Home plays kind of like the Sims or a hub to an MMO game. Its like an independent environment where you run around talk to people or initiate games that you've purchased to play together.

Miiverse is just like the Mii channel and the system menu on the Wii fused together. Everything is always there.

The games show up like channels did on the Wii only with Mii's of the people who played the games gather around. It is an enhanced version of the Wii's system menu. Its not a seperate program like Home. Its the actual boot screen.

What part of this looks like Home?

I haven't been in PS Home in a while but based on what I know of it's improvement over the years this does sound a lot like the basic idea/purpose of Home.

EDIT: Actually, I would say it sounds like Home mixed with the Vita's Live Area.

...so according to you the reason they can't be compared is that ps home is a seperate program while this is the main menu?

i already posted what i found to be similar

"A gathering place for avatars, all of which represent gamers you know or live near, all conglomerating around icons representing games they're playing, all text-chirping about their status in the games"

the major difference imo is as you said the implementation and that the view of the avatars is pulled back

but regardless the concept of avatars gathering in a space to converse seems to be shared between the 2 to me

That is a loaded questoin. I never said they couldn't be comnpared. Don't twist my words. i said they were not the same. You can compare them as much as you wish.

The reasons are every single reason I listed. Not one, not two. All of them.

I just told you. The Wii did that already. Its alled the Mii channel. The only thing Miiverse is, is the Mii channel fused with the system menu and message boards added to the channels.

The Mii channel and the channel based system menu existed before the Wii hiit the shelf and Home was even a glimmer. Home and the Xbox avatar system were both an attempt to mimic the Mii added long after both of those consoles release in case this knowledge has been forgotten.

To think that there would be a day where people would insinuate that Nintendo is copying something that is a copy of what they made...

Your user created avatars gathering around areas related to games where you can talk about them, talk to your friends, look at each other's profile/gamer cards/etc. and launch group games. The big difference I really see is that you can freely move around in Home, and there's stuff like mini-games houses/apartments/malls/the theatre/etc. The main purpose of Home and this are essentially the same.

Now that I think about it, this is more similar to the Vita's live area where each game and app is an icon you can position anywhere you like. When you select an icon there's an entire page where you can talk about the game with your friends leaving comments and look at each other's progress.

This = Home + Live Area - Free Roam - Mini games

That's the impression this gives me. Hmmm.. I don't know much about NintendoLand but I'm guessing that could fill in for the whole "City of mini games" aspect I subtracted.

You are aware that Nintendo already implemented those things on the WIi and that the entire purpose of Home and the 360 avatars was to be those respectives consoles competative versions of it right?

There is no free roam in Miiverse. You do not gather with people in it. You only interact with people on the individual message boards for each game.
