so you disagree that the concept of avatars gathering in a space to converse is shared between the 2?

Yes I disagree as one is a copy of the other. The Wii was doing that since launch. Sony lifted the idea and created there on unique version just like the sixaxis and Move.

I do not consider that being shared as Nintendo does not share their ideas with other companies.

Also, you do not converse with the Avatars, you converse on message boards for the games. The avatars are just there to show you who has played the game that you have interacted with just like on Mario Kart Wii and various other Wii online games.

I haven't been in PS Home in a while but based on what I know of it's improvement over the years this does sound a lot like the basic idea/purpose of Home.

No, it doesn't.

Yea, it does.

How? Demonstrate it.

Your user created avatars gathering around areas related to games where you can talk about them, talk to your friends, look at each other's profile/gamer cards/etc. and launch group games. The big difference I really see is that you can freely move around in Home, and there's stuff like mini-games houses/apartments/malls/the theatre/etc. The main purpose of Home and this are essentially the same.

Now that I think about it, this is more similar to the Vita's live area where each game and app is an icon you can position anywhere you like. When you select an icon there's an entire page where you can talk about the game with your friends leaving comments and look at each other's progress.

This = Home + Live Area - Free Roam - Mini games

That's the impression this gives me. Hmmm.. I don't know much about NintendoLand but I'm guessing that could fill in for the whole "City of mini games" aspect I subtracted.

You are aware that Nintendo already implemented those things on the WIi and that the entire purpose of Home and the 360 avatars was to be those respectives consoles competative versions of it right?

There is no free roam in Miiverse. You do not gather with people in it. You only interact with people on the individual message boards for each game.

News to me... When I had a Wii and started up a game I saw only 2 options. "Wii Menu" and "Start". I don't remember anything like Live Area existing on Wii... or anything like Home but ok.

Really now? I also don't remember stating those existed in that manner either.

Don't twist my words. It reflects negatively of your character.

When Nintendo initially talked about how their online system was going to allow developers to use some, all or none of the features and they could connect it to their own networks I remember talking about how I thought this meant that they were moving away from it being strictly about online gaming; and I thought they were moving into a social networking space.

My thoughts were generally on the Wii U connecting through existing social networks though ... Basically, things like being able to start a video capture of what you were doing in game, posting it to youtube and being able to tweet it or post it on facebook; or being able to post an achievement and challenge your friends to beat your time/score; or being able to take pictures/videos of your friends playing "Just Dance" using the Wii U controller and posting them to your favorite social networking site.

Effectively, I thought of it as a viral marketing campaign for the system and the games.

My reasoning behind this was that the Wii was highly successful in a large part because gamers bought it and encouraged their non-gamer friends to play it; either by inviting them over to play it or bringing the system over to their houses/parties. If Nintendo built the right basic functionality, integrated it with existing social networks, and convinced third party publishers to take advantage of it in creative ways, every time someone played a videogame they would unintentionally help sell the game and system to their friends.

Yes. The idea for Home came from Nintedo's integration of the Mii into the Wii and 360 Avatars were added to compete with Mii's as well. Nintendo made the Mii's(Your own personal avatar) and your ability to play with them in game an integral part of the system straight from the beginning with Wii Sports and Mii channel. It was one of their most advertised features. The PS3 and 360 had no such systems in the beginning. They saw the sucess of it and added their own clon... I mean variations.

How could you not know thats how Miiverse worked? I posted the video completely explaining everything about it.

so you're saying that playstation home was derived from the mii system on the wii?

That is correct. Nintendo had its Avatar system so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo had its motion controls so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo has it dual screen gameplay so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo has its first party 4 person brawler, Sony is now making one and I have no doubt that Microsoft will follow suit in someway in the future.

This is why Nintendo is so secretive. Everything they anounce seems to magically bring about something that looks and work really similar on the Sony and Microsoft consoles.

This doesn't need to be as argumentative as you guys are making it. Calm down, everyone.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Another idea for a certain other company to blatantly STEA...ur "inspire" from Nintendo. Not gonna call any names but it starts with an S, ends withs a Y and has a N and an O somewhere in between.
