News to me... When I had a Wii and started up a game I saw only 2 options. "Wii Menu" and "Start". I don't remember anything like Live Area existing on Wii... or anything like Home but ok.

Really now? I also don't remember stating those existed in that manner either.

Don't twist my words. It reflects negatively of your character.

????

I discribed a Vita feature, you tell me it exists on the Wii, I tell you I never saw it there. I'm not trying to twist anything you've said.

Well anyway, I think Miiverse is going to be a nice touch. I alwas wanted more interaction with the Mii's like an online meeting area or something similar to Animal Crossing.

I only have one problem with it. The posting delay. I can understand the desire to filter but it would be a lot easier to just ban users who abuse the system from posting on it instead of making thing delayed up to 30 minutes. I don't want to wait 30 minutes for a solution to a problem.

"Now that I think about it, this is more similar to the Vita's live area where each game and app is an icon you can position anywhere you like. When you select an icon there's an entire page where you can talk about the game with your friends leaving comments and look at each other's progress. "

There is the reference to the Vita to which you replied:

"
You are aware that Nintendo already implemented those things on the WIi and that the entire purpose of Home and the 360 avatars was to be those respectives consoles competative versions of it right?"

In that same post you also said:

"You only interact with people on the individual message boards for each game."

I understand this. This is the main reason why I drew the comparison to the Vita. Each game has a message board that keeps trophy updates of you and your friends. Users are also allowed to leave comments and reply to others and the updates. You don't have to go through some seperate program like Home or Mii Channel (which I will admit I've never used and have no idea how it work), it's just a part of the window you get when you launch the game, every game has it, and you can have multiples of these open for different games. I never saw anything like that on the Wii.

Here's a post with all of the quotes in case you don't want to look back.

And the others are what? Everyone are gamers. The problem is the choice you make. Some make good choice (read: Nintendo customers) others, mistakes...

" The idea for Home came from Nintedo's integration of the Mii into the Wii"

so you're saying that playstation home was derived from the mii system on the wii?

That is correct. Nintendo had its Avatar system so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo had its motion controls so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo has it dual screen gameplay so Sony and Microsoft made their own. Nintendo has its first party 4 person brawler, Sony is now making one and I have no doubt that Microsoft will follow suit in someway in the future.

This is why Nintendo is so secretive. Everything they anounce seems to magically bring about something that looks and work really similar on the Sony and Microsoft consoles.

what was taken from the mii system and used on playstation home?

btw multiple online games had avatars long before nintendo... so nintendo lifted the idea also...

The Wii message thing is in the corner beneath the channels. There were also the things like the question channel and the news channel.

Nintendo has simply merged all of those things into one.

Personal avatars that you can play as with other people. A huge environment where the avatars gathered together and interact. Home added customizable homes and various envionments to it like a hub world but the basic idea behind was to be an "improved" version of the Mii which it didn't live up to. Micrsofts just added customizable cloths...

Nintendo is trying to build a social network out of the Mii addons. Everything I see in Miiverse was implemented in some way on the Wii. Now it has all been brought together with full online intergration.

I think what he is trying to say, is that this feature isnt really original or new, the others have implemented something similar on their own systems for a while.

OT im just glad that Ninty is taking the whole online thing more seriously

Personally, the Miiverse excites me more than the tablet. I think it's absolutely brilliant. As for Sony's home, I think the ideas are similar, but the execution is rather different. I think Sony tends to make things a bit more complex than they have to be. I don't think that home looks very inviting or appealing, especially to casual gamers.

When you look at its usage numbers, home didn't look very inviting to much of anyone after the hype wore off and it turned out to be far less than what was massively advertised.

I remember the little envelope thing in the cornor that did nothing but tell me what I did the previous day on the system. That's about it. I'm guessing I missed something.

In any case, I don't remember anything on the Wii that resembled the functionality of this Wii Verse or Live Area. Just a grid of curved boxes with different programs in each. I don't recall an area in the system that allowed you to talk freely with other users or really anything that incouraged communication and information exchange amongst users. This conversation is getting nowhere. If I could see a video of something like it then that would settle that.
