Yes. My only source is wikipedia at the moment, but I've heard it claimed several times. Most of the albums were sold in the US, because she's a country star. So of course gaga has a tad of a sales advantage, because her music is in other countries, where Taylor's music is american patriotic anthems. I've heard Gaga sold 65 million though, but Taylor has so by far and away sold more albums than Gaga in the US.


If you're using Wikipedia as a source, then they have Taylor Swift's total worldwide album sales at 20 million...

Oh I agree that lyrics don't have to be deep and all - just look at "All You Need is Love" by the Beatles. But it is a scientific fact that mainstream music today sounds much more... mainstream. The big hits sounds much much more alike nowadays than before. They're less original. And considering ms Swift is popular today... well, let's just say that the Beatles and more variety =)

OT: What a fun and bizzarely opionated thread. Just like all of them. This one is funny though. Never ever ever...ever ever. Bestest song ever indeed. 

The lyrics are just so clever and cunning. The Weeee-heeee in the chorus just pierces the emotion.

Honestly i don't find the song all that good. Your exitement towards it is pretty mind blowing cool though. 

Also funny how fans fight or argue over who made more money. Yes how will the celebrities and other entertainment artist survive and have a meal to eat if lot of blazing loud people weren't cheering and opening their wallets for them.

Pop isn't her main genre. She's a country singer.

I don't care for record company designed genre divisions. It has a verse, chorus, is disconnected phrases about some terrible love life, and goes AAAAaaooooo3333333333333neee in the chorus. Hence it is popular music.

Let me guess, it's country because she swapped out a bass guitar for an acoustic one?

Writing these things takes zero effort. She has vocal talent but everything else is from a conveyor belt of "hits".

Those are record sales.. not album sales.. records mean singles.. individual song sales... and that list is horrible outdated.. gaga has sold well over 105 million records world wide

Yes, Gaga sold more world wide. However, Taylor has sold much more in the US.
