Here is an excellent preview article that might shut a few people up.

Haha, you think that helps anything? We had a thread on that already and people just went ahead and tried to discredit it, yet when someone from Platinum (?),  who is working on P-100 and has never even touched PSASBR claimed the game was a rip-off they all defended it as if the guy actually knew what the hell he was talking about.

Yes, the game is an imitation, but it still tried to do some things differently to try and give it an identity of it's own. Devs do this all the time, but what is annoying is how all these gamers bitch, cry, moan and groan about it.

Seriously people, it's just a video game, lol.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Meh, how about, will it sell as much?

Of course it wont sell as much but, i am in the beta and most previews are saying that the games takes the best parts of smash brothers and improves on them. The beta is absolutley fantastic, and I know the Nintendo fans will hate to hear this but it will probably end up being a better game than smash brothers.

Not a Nintendo fan, but judging whether it will be better tha smash bros will be highly subjective.

Yeah because the best games always sell the most right?

Sales figures are factual and not influence by opinion.

Its a Shameless rip off. Dont get me wrong, most companies take "inspiration" from other titles. Resident Evil/Silent Hill ( although both games have become unique and different in their own way) and even resident evil was a rip of of games that came before it, but the difference is, they at least tried to change the formula and bring something new.

All Stars is a shameless rip off, no doubt about it, and i dont understand why nintendo havent done anything about it.

What exactly do you want Nintendo to do about it, sue them? That's not how the justice system works. And I wouldn't say it's a shameless ripoff, the gameplay mechanics are fairly different. Brawl was a party game, while PAS is geared for a more competitive audience. Some hardcore fighting game fan who like the style of Smash but wish it was more suitable to competitive fighting would cal PAS an evolution not ripoff.

Off topic, but the dude who called it a ripoff, Keiji Inafune. He also created a Smash Bros style game years back.

Its a ripoff the same way CoD and BF is a ripoff from the first shooter: wolfenstein.

Dont matter though, since All Stars plays so much better than Brawl in the beta.

The first topics I read about this were all about "it doesn't copy or ripoff because SB wasn't new or created a genre, it copied lots of games itself".

Now you go the other way.

Fans should make up their mind and stick to whatever they think is a valid point and not jump around like this.

But it's not just Sony fans who do this. It's the others as well.

Find out? We already know it is. This game wouldn't exist if Smash Bros weren't a thing.

Of course, the points where the game differentiates itself from SSB seem like poor decisions to me.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

A rip-off? No. It just so happens that Brawl's genre has been largely ignored by other companies because they don't have enough mascot characters (Ubisoft or EA might be able to manage it as well).

-They went to great pains to completely change the scoring system
-There are multiple levels of finisher
-I don't believe it has any of the minigames (could be wrong here)

It's certainly inspired and heavily influenced by Smash Bros. But it's no more a Smash Bros clone than Dawn of War is a Starcraft clone or Call of Duty is a Wolfenstein 3D clone.

To those calling it a clone: what could they have done, within the genre, to make it any more different from Smash Bros?

Nudity, they could of given each character options to be naked, think about it a battle between nude Fat Princess, Sweet Tooth, Heihachi and Big Daddy everything out in the open now that's somthing different from Smash.
