Soooo, who of you people who got upset by these rumors will actually buy the game instead of pirating it ?

Here's how stuff works in the real world: the market that is more loyal and dependable gets more attention.

That is not the PC market.

Do you mean to imply that this horrendous port is just punishment from the gaming gods on high

From Software is not a big studio, the only reason they are experementing with a PC port is not of course "fan demand" or other PR crap,  but the simple fact they already made some substantial profit from the console version.

Is the PC market worth the investment/time/budget ?

About development;

They did manage to get almost identical performance on the (direct) Xbox which is very different to the PS3 architecture and very close to a PC. So they do have competent developers.

Sadly, I am not hating, it's reality. They will not put that much effort on a dubious outcome. And to be fair if someone can play the "unfriendly dev" card, that is the PS3.

Are you trying to make an analogy ? Skyrim came from PC developers, it is not a port.

So many complaints (and rightly so). How long before they announce it'll be delayed? x-/

From Software is small but the publisher of the game really isn't.

From Software has been quoted that the PC version is there solely to meet demand, and also that they personally have no skill with the PC as a platform, and that they wee working under a very tight deadline. That is the stated set of reasoning for why the PC port is terrible. Do you put forth that they are lying with each of these?

Whether or not the PC market is worth the investment isn't the issue here, anymore, because even if it could have been, it will not be now.

This is more the Sent to Die edition.

Plenty of PC ports have been profitable, they said that they weren't aware that PC gaming was a thing before they heard about the pettetion so I don't see how the could not be due to fan demand. At the end of the day they should not have done the PC port by themselves when they didn't know what they were doing they should have at least got some help from people that had some experiance on PC.

Using the same assets as the console version would have been fine. Artifically limiting the resolution to a below HD level makes no sense on PC, changable resolution has been standard in 3D PC games since 1995.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

We have known this for awhile...They said this is there first PC game ever and they dont have the experience porting it to the PC so instead of fixing the title up they were gonna let modders fix the game and what they were gonna do is make more content for the game instead of fixing it

No, I am not saying they are lying, I'm just saying it's all diplomatic public relations talk.

"very tight deadline" means exactly what I am saying. Having their developers focus for a long time on the PC costs them money, it's an investment in a market where very few titles per year make strong sales.

The reason they are able to experiment is because they already made a profit from the consoles.

That doesn't explain why Namco didn't go whole hog and get someone who knows what they're doing to make the PC port instead of saddling From with it. This is an essential failing on the feature set of this game that will result in a much lower return on their investment than they would have gotten with even the most barebone standard features we expect of console-to-pc ports.

And yes, console-to-pc ports have proven worth it this generation. Mass Effect (the whole series) was rooted in consoles, GTAIV was rooted in consoles - Hell I'm pretty sure Deus Ex: Human Revolution was developed on consoles.

Doing this apparently isn't that hard if you have any idea what you're doing. Namco, knowing that From had no idea what it was doing, saw fit to send out a forty-dollar version of Dark Souls to languish and die in the PC space when they could have actually made a fairly nice chunk of money off of it.

Even ignoring the business aspect of it

If you're not going to do it right, don't do it at all. A port this slipshod is an insult to potential customers.

Deus Ex: HR was developed on consoles, but ported while devolopment was going on by nixxes.

From Software did a completely idiotic move in trying to develop for PC since they didn't know how. Not only that, it was developed for the xbox360, which uses a variant of the windows O.S.  This isn't going from PS3 or PS2 -> PC which is more difficult. Ports that are on 360 generally are done on PC farely easily if they are done by someone competent in the slightest.

Saying it's not profitable or it's not a big release is a dumb statement. Alan Wake sold 1.17 million copies on x360 first (less than demon or dark soul's), yet according to remedy it made a profit on steam the first day of release. This port had enhanced graphics and other bells and whistles. From Software botched this, and I don't see you how anyone can say From Software took an intelligent route to this port.
