Forums - PC - Dark Souls sucks...on PC

The bad port is just there to enhance the difficulty. Prepare to die edition indeed.

I loled

I am interested in re-buying this for PC so I hope this is fixed.

It's just that simple.

You should be thankful that they at least tried to give PC gamers the opportunity to play this masterpiece. They tried their best.

I dont usually play visually demanding games on PC, but even I think that looks like a pants screenshot if that's how the game will be. The game is great, they should fix that shit.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

WTF? That's horrible. Even PCs in 1998 could run games at a higher resolution (Voodoo 2 SLI@1024 x 768!). Plus it's locked at 30fps and has trouble even maintaining that at such a low (sub HD) resolution? (from the gaf thread)

I was considering getting the PC version of this game. My friend is a big fan of the PS3 game and since they never released the 360 version in Japan, the PC version seemed like the best option. Until now...

It IS the best version though, since the framerate is more stable. Other than that, it looks like they are pretty much identical. I was hoping for a drastic improvement as the console versions look kind of sloppy to me and the framerate is annoying.

Just get it on ps3 if it annoys you that much. PS3 is the definite version with most benefits

Horse shit. I can't think of a single console-to-PC port in the past fifteen years that didn't have scalable resolutions. This is beyond the pale of shoddy ports - one of which I was ready to deal with, where resolution was pretty much the only thing we got that mattered - and straight into the territory of "why did they do this at all if they weren't going to do it right?"

For God's sake it's not even rendering in widescreen

This is by far the worst console-to-PC port I've ever seen for that reason alone. The idea that we owe them thanks for this less-than-nominal effort is less than counter-intuitive.

Soooo, who of you people who got upset by these rumors will actually buy the game instead of pirating it ?

Here's how stuff works in the real world: the market that is more loyal and dependable gets more attention.

That is not the PC market.

Do you mean to imply that this horrendous port is just punishment from the gaming gods on high

Well, I am not. Deal with it! It's like being thankful for somone throwing a cake in your face. I mean, the cake tastes nice and all but getting hit in the face with one is horrible. That is what that screen feels like.

lol, funny analogy.

All I am asking is give the guys a break. They admitted being very naive about the task and then running into extreme difficulties porting it.

After all, that screenshot looks on par with the console version and the framerate is a stable 30 instead of drops down below 10 fps in some areas on the PS3. Plus the PC guys get extra levels.

Khuutra, you already have the game on X360 so you probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place lol.

Yes, even if it's the worst port PC gamers should be thankful. They get to play the second best game series this gen after Elder Scrolls. The From guys suck with PCs and yet they managed to make the game perfectly playable.

PC gamers should buy this game in droves.

I never played it on 360

I gave it away when I heard about this version

And no, there is no obligation created by a publisher failing to get a legitimately PC-competent company to do the port instead of getting guys who apparently don't know normal PC architecture to save their lives

This release is an embarrassment, and if I buy it it's going to be about 16 months from now during the game's second Steam Holiday Sale, where I will probably buy it for about $5
