Forums - Nintendo - Most technically advanced game on Wii?

What about The Last Story? It sure as hell put a lot of strain on the Wii and crossed the line a couple of times.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Pikmin 2

Still the most technically advanced game produced by Nintendo ever released.

After that some close seconds include

  • Metroid Prime 3 - Corruption
  • Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2

I found The Last Story interesting. It uses varying level of advanade tech. In some places, the ground is simply shiny. In others the ground reflects the environment and in some it relfect the environment and the characters. It had some decent physics hear and there as well as its refined collision detection system. The animations were very fluid.

The character modals are also extremely detailed. I would place that in the top 3 for most detailed character models on the system. It has some very nice lighting and shadow detail and what appears to be normal mapping, but I can't be certain. It also put large amount of detailed enemeis on screen at once and the environments are destructable here and there.

Overall it is a pretty good demonstration of the systems power. Games like it and Mario Galaxy honestly should have been the stadard that other Wii games were judged by. Not the best, but it used advanced features of the hardware well.

From what I've seen, The Last Story was strong from a technical point of view. And honestly, I know it has to do a lot with the art style, but I find Super Mario Galaxy (and SMG 2) very strong as well. I honestly wouldn't have thought it was a Wii game if it wasn't for the fact it's a Mario game. It's still pleasing to look at now which says a lot for a Wii game!

Also the Sonic games were decent but inconsistent. Some of the areas in Sonic Colors were the best I've seen from a Wii game, but only bits and not the whole game.

Probably Monster Hunter Tri - very impressive game

That's what I was going to say but I'm not sure if it actually pushes it's limits.

I don't think it did. The texture on the people wasn't that good tbh. Also since it had a big map with lots of areas and lots of monsters, it really couldn't push the graphics on the system.

@lilbroex you are in serious need for an attitude adjustment

The term hit the nail on the head couldnt be more apt.

Sigh: passive agressiveness is a bad sign.

I have no attitude. I simply call things as I see them and don't water what I say down. I have no control over how you choose to interpret what I state.

Nah not passive agressiveness, just the tone of your posts make you seem that you are talking down to people, its not just me that thinks that by the looks of it. Anyway back to topic , i really like the things you are saying i really do, just try not to come across as too patronising, people do see things differently xx

If I am not mistaken there was a thread about how beautiful rogue squadron looked on the gamecube. Even the RS for n64 looks great.
