Seperation of church and state big on the constitution, yet they don't won't to admit the whole idea they spewed in the first place is against what the constitution standed for in the first place. To stop religion from creating another dark age of oppression.

I'm not at all sure that it is unconstitutional, actually, and calling it retrofitting seems pretty ignorant since same-sex marriage has never been sanctioned by Western civilization except for a relatively few instances in ancient Rome before they outlawed it.

Violating actual civil rights in a symbolic show of support for civil rights is the very height of hypocrisy. Particularly from the likes of Rahm Emanuel, who served as chief of staff for a guy who not so very long ago professed to share Dan Cathy's view on gay marriage.

Also, Chi Fil a HAD to have known about the backlash they would get with their anti-gay statement, which to me tells me they wanted this. After all, look at the massive sales they got from all the right wingers and hardcore Christians during their "appreciation day." I guess bad publicity is better than no publicity.. All I can say is, they should be careful what they wish for, because I have a feeling the longer term effects of this statement are going to be far more negative than positive.

No one ever tells you you had to agree, or believe, or go there. That's what's really stupid about this situation.

People just need to see that this guy made a comment, yes it was kind of a stupid comment, but it's his belief, you don't have to care.

I worked at Chili's on Wednesday when it was Appreciation Day. I worked today when the actual protest was.

You'll be as disappointed as I was.

Nothing happened.

Our CFA is the 2nd most profitable CFA chain in the South East (ironically the #1 CFA in the SE is about 10 miles away. ) and we're about 20 minutes away from downtown Charlotte (so pretty metropolitan as far as the South goes). And there was not a single protester participating in the kiss-in during the lunch shift (I worked 11-3). It was quite busy, but if anyone had an "allegiance" it was those who attended Appreciation Day on Wednesday, returning to show more support to the restaurant.

However, I heard that those who were going to protest might show up during the dinner hours tonight. So I'll update the situation tomorrow when I get the latest info.

politicians saying at which company people should buy a meal or whatever else because of a statement of this company. i bet these kind of politicians are very good in beeing neutral if it comes to economical decisions hurting/helping one or another kind of companies.

I don't get any of this. Chik-Fil-A is a family-owned business, and that family doesn't support same-sex marriage. It's their personal view and no matter how dumb it is, like anyone else in the country, they have a right to share it. They also have the right to make donations to any cause they see fit.

It's not like the business refuses to serve gay people. People can protest, they can boycott, they can speak out, but why? To try to change one person's stance on an extremely divisive issue? You can't make this guy change his religion. He's obviously a very devoted Christian, of the sort that opposes same-sex marriage.

Even in a potential future where same-sex marriage is 100% legalized, this man is entitles to his opinion, as long as he doesn't actively discriminate against anyone, which he doesn't seem to be doing.

I read in an article that there were a lot of prejudiced church people in those lines preaching from the line. LOL Christians will never let gays live.
