I bought it... It's nothing like Civ 2 so I dropped it.
Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

The expansion added a heap to it, gave it some much needed strategic depth.
Still, my favourite Civ game is actually Alpha Centauri (well it's basically a Civ game).
Edit: I play Japan quite a bit, Bushido + Samurai = huge expansion through military for a period of the game. Bushido keeps its edge right till the end too.
I got back into Civ 5 with Gods and Kings. I think the number of people you see playing is deceptively low: you only see games that are in the lobby and have not started. There are probably dozens or hundreds more in progress at any time.
Was actually considering picking this up, been a Civ fan for a while, had the first (or second) on PS, and enjoyed that quite a lot. Haven't really played it since 3 on PC, got 4 too, but I found it weird and kind of didn't really play it afterwards. But 3 was beastly :D
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.
I play it all the time. I think I got 500 hours clocked on it so far. Right now my current goal is to beat it on Immortal. I found emperor to be a bit too easy but immortal is a huge leap up and I can't beat it. However, on my current game I'm in the lead by about 150 points on a 600 point time limit game. I won't lie I did use the Iroquois on a heavily forested map for a slight advantage. In this game though Since I have a 150 point lead and I'm almost to the future era I'm beginning to get teamed up on lol.
If you ever want to start a game that we can play overtime add me on steam and let me know.

Well it's sort of the first one. Bushido makes it so that units ALWAYS fight at full strength. Normally your units attack power decreases as it's HP do. |
Yea, I sort of remembered that while at work after I posted that. It is pretty damn nice though having units fight at full strength no matter what HP they have left. Very good perk for someone that wants to dominate (which is usually what I play - domination).
I've never been good at this game, I just play the series for the fun of it (like it should be). I'm not a noob per say, but an amateur really. So do anyone have any tips how to play the 5th edition?? I've looked for strategy guides but haven't found any... Just simple guide lines will do just fine :D

Try the Civfanatics website for some awesome Civ 3 scenarios. Some of them are way better than the ones provided by conquest / the full edition.

French and Indian Wars

WW2 Mediterranean

(just remembered that some of those scenarios (such as WW2 Global) were pulled from the site due to Rocotech not liking Civfantics so some of those scenarios you have to go to Storm Over Civilization to download)
PS I was BEERPACK on that site and I believe I got a few shout outs in the credits (at least in WW2 Global). Age of Imperialism is an insane scenario considering how much work the guy put into it on graphics, units, etc..

Just mainly invest in science such as libraries, universities, etc to get the much needed lead on the other Civs. I like building the Great Library for a free science tech (build the wonders that give bonuses to science). If you expand too quickly then you better have luxury resources to please your citizens. The higher the difficulty the more easily they get pissed off. So expanding your empire requires a decent balance of making sure your people are happy. Usually, I try to save up decent amount of money so when I take over a city once it returns to production I annex it and buy a courthouse to knock off a decent amount of angry people. There are a lot of different ways to play but being ahead in technology usually makes it a lot easier to win. Once I get science and happiness buildings complete I then focus on getting a few production helping buildings out to start cranking out the troops. Make sure you have enough troops to at least hold off any enemy attack (defending your cities/territory) because if they see you are weak they might declare war on you (team up on you).

When is it a good time to expand? And what social policys is good to take? I usually try to get that free worker first. And is is still necessary to have specific cities; gold, production, science?
