Forums - Microsoft - DF: First Xbox 3 Devkit leaks, 8 Core Intel CPU, nvidia GPU, More than 8GB RAM

The specs are really good but i think they are too good to be true ...
If they made a machine that powerful i don't think they will need a new console unless something new and unique happens to video games , but i really think video games reached the peak in the graphics section ( pc games ) and it's time to invest in other sections such as human level AI , better physics and animations etc ..

Sounds pretty beastly. Half the ram of the dev kit seems to confirm at least 4gigs of ram for the console. Not too shabby.

It is possible that Microsoft learned their lessons and negotiated a far better contract.

Also, nVidia probably want back in on the home console pie, there's 10s of millions of units to be shipped, and they're old price-screwing policy has already cost them one generation.

?

The PS3 uses an Nvidia chip.

I thought the latest word was that Nvidia was dropping support for future consoles?

Didn't they said that when rumors pointed that all 3 would use AMD chips on their future consoles?

But as I said, it is always is a matter of money.

Edit:

It is interesting that everybody says "it's powerful", "it's a beast", etc. when there's not a single mention about the graphics chip, besides being Nvidia.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I don't think they will use a weak graphics chip if they are going with an eight-core processor and at least 4gigs of RAM

Intel and Nvidia would be pretty nice for a change, with Sony/Ninty using AMD and/or IBM.

Usually dev kits have twice the amount of RAM on the console, but I'm still betting on the kits using 12 GB and the 6 GB of DDR3 plus EDRAM of the old rumors being indeed the real deal.

i7s are quad cores, not octo-cores. Only AMD makes octo-cores.

@OP

And it's outdated before it comes out. My PC is better than that.

An 8 core Atom chip, let's not forget that part. And, as I asked above, I don't know how much better are the new Atom chips. Maybe the quad AMD APU that according to rumors will included in the PS4 can beat this 8 core one.

And if they go with Nvidia, which GPU can they use? We can scrap the GTX680/670 as well as the older GTX 580/570/560 as they are very expensive and/or use more than 150W, too high for a console.

Although if rumors about it are true, they could try to get the GTX 660, but that would be too expensive.

My bad.

Microsoft have a dodgy history with nVidia and Xbox, though.
