Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Tekken Producer Says People Are Focussing Too Much On Wii U Specs

STAGE
you were comparing how TvC would have sold much more on the HD consoles, possibly true, but it would also have had better grafix and online being more appealing to general public, and it would have costed more to be made also...
The Soul Calibur 2 example seems much more like this situation, the same game with the same grafix, exclusive content and a huge leap in userbase...just that

I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings but TTT2 is a hardcore fighting game. It is difficult to pick up and difficult to master. The only game that is more technical is Virtua Fighter. Nintendo gamers are more suited to games with a gentler learning curve.

I'm not saying all Nintendo fans are noobs, just that in general, they prefer games that are simple, easy to pick up and play.

^^^
is that a joke?

Tekken is as easy to pick up and play as any Nintendo game
this comes from a Tekken/SoulCalibur Master...

True fighting fans arent worried about graphics. It's about a balanced game, controls, interesting characters with great movesets and technical gameplay (parries, juggles, meters etc.). Nintendo is quickly becoming the least console of choice for fighters. The hey day of fighters on a Nintendo was truly the SNES era. Yes, GC was a great console focused on the core gamer (Which is probably why it sold so badly) but of the few fighters they had Soul Calibur had great core support even for one fighter. Tekken Tag Tournament will be strongest on the PS3 because of the community and the best players in the world are playing on the PS3. Its the tournament console of choice for fighters in evo as well. Im not going to argue about that because theres no arguing it that this point. What we can argue is whether the Wii U's version will outsell the 360's, which is still doubt because Microsoft segmented Sonys fanbase. Perhaps TVC wasn't a good choice, but its all Nintendo has to show for the generation of the Wii.

The things Sony fans do try to deny Nitendo's gains. Its saddening.

The most typical method. Take one isolated scenario out of a dozens. Put all focus on that scenario while ignoring all otherg fervently. Insist only the most negative possibility of said scenario over and over again.

=Typical response I see from Sony fanatics.

Because apparently, only one type of gamer makes up the majority of the games sells and because they need an additional option, they will ignore all other benefits.

Did anyone catch where he said there would was plenty of graphical power left over? Not only will this be the most superior version graphically but it doesn't even come close to maxing out the graphical potential of the system. Though, we will just let everyone continue to misinterpret the Arkham City screenshots and insist the the Wii U has less graphicall power.

nope could you point it out to me?

I only saw this "there was still some power left over for graphic capabilities so the graphics chips seems to be pretty decent."

Also source for the game looking better on Wii U, or are you just guessing?

Its called combining common sense with known facts. ie, the WIi U version of every multi platform game shown to date has run at a higher resolution and a higher frame rate. There is a point where it becomes clear without constant begging of the question.

I don't provide information for people who continuously question beyond reason and show an intention to completely disrgegard any and all info that isn't to their liking while providing absolutely nothing substantial on there end other then endless nitpicking and denying anything that hasn't been dissected down to the atom with a 2000 page tutorial and video guide...which they would just ignore in favor of something else they could nitpick at if it were actually provided. This article we are posting on is far more enough fact than anything I've seen you "contribute".

Right, but it's still a poor example that should not have been given. If it had been a fighter with broader appeal, it would have sold better. It's the same fallacy that's been thrown around to show how "3rd party games don't sell on Nintendo consoles" since the beginning of the generation.

TTT2 is going to benefit from being a launch game on Wii U. A new userbase is just that: new, and willing to experiment and try different types of games, and also buy whatever comes their way. The small userbase will limit its potential out of the gate, but it will do respectably well for all that, and that's the long-and-short of this whole debate.

Tatsunoku vs Capcom sold more in the US than it did in Japan. Thats just sad because that game is Japanese gaming culture which was basically turned away. If the Japanese dont see the Wii as a console of choice for fighters with an exclusive console fighter its a problem. Street Fighter 3DS isnt a good indicator of life either and handhelds are the only consoles the Japanese seem to care about these days as well.

The problem with the logic here is that fighters are now online linked. Nintendo is behind and "experimenting" with multiplats that will already be on existing consoles. People can fork out another $200-300 for the new console and buy Tekken or they can stick with their existing consoles and play it with better online, community and better controls. The graphics is the only true selling point of the Wii U over the existing HD consoles whom are still within generation.

I don't quite know what we're arguing here. The game's sales will be respectable but not great, and no-one is going to buy a Wii U or any console for TTT2, but Wii U owners with nothing better to play are going to try it out when they might otherwise not, boosting its sales within the constrained environment.
