Wow. One time Nintendo has ever posted a loss as a hardware maker, games developer and Nintendo is now in line to become a third party developer. The doom articles against Nintendo have all started since the early days as a hardware maker, and it will never cease so long as they exist. Besides, Nintendo themselves has declared so many years ago that they will never exists without the other. It's all or nothing.

IF they do, then all other third party developers should fear the day that becomes a reality.

didn't Nintendo state in a documentary ten years ago , that if they put out of making video game systems, they would not go 3rd party and go back to making toys and board games.

Yep, they said something like that. I highly doubt that they would actually rather do that than go third party though.

But but but  XBox and PS3 owners are so mature that they wouldn't buy Nintendo games, so why should they continue developing games if nobody would buy them?

possible
not probable in the near future
near future being 20 yrs

Saw this mentioned on another forum. I think the guy needs to lay off the drugs lolololol

no i don't think nintendo and apple partnering would be cool as long as apple doesn't have a real console or real controls. i don't think a simplification of zelda would be such a great experience on a tablet or something like that. i could imagine nintendo making games for xbox and playstation but only if it is with a controller or other great controls (only theoretically, i don't think this will happen anytime soon)

Someone remind me how Sega is doing, since they got out of the console business.

Not going to happen. If Nintendo felt they could make unique software on any hardware, they wouldn't be betting the farm time and time again on new hardware designs.

DS: Dual Screen + Touch Screen

Wii: Motion Controls

Wii U: Dual Screen + Touch Screen + Motion + NFC + Asymetric Gaming

3DS: 3D without glasses

They clearly don't believe in software innovation without hardware innovation to complement that.
