I don't really think they're planning on bundling Vita with PS4 as that would drive PS4's price up to $600.00, since Sony's going to be selling a much stronger console than Wii U for $400.00; however, it would kind of be like Nintendo's plan to sell a $200 console with the $200 Wii U controller packed in the box at $300.00 later this year and taking a $100 loss on each console.

Do you have a source for that Wii U controller cost? Because I don't think that thing with its low quality DS style screen is going to cost them more than $50 to produce.

The graphics on the screen shown off at E3 for games like Batman:  Arkham City and even the Othello game are quite a bit better than DS quality graphics, and if it's not better than that, then it's going to be tremendouslyunderpowered because isn't one of the major selling points to be able to take your games off the screen and onto the controller at the same quality that they were in on your tv if you want to play a game while somebody else is watching tv?

He probably meant in terms of screen technology and resolution, not the quality of the material streamed into it. In terms of dots per square inch, the technology seems largely the same.

If Nintendo were smart, they would bundle a ds with every wiiu. Then we could have 3 screens!!!

The Wii U does the processing, not the controller.

One of the major points is supposed to be that if you want to, you can take the game off the screen and onto your controller and play it in the same quality as what you were playing on your tv?  If it can't do that, what's the point, because Vita and even PSP can already do that better than Wii U if Wii U's controller is only ds quality.

But if the screen quality, doesn't match up to the quality of your tv, there's going to be a noticeable difference.

It's got a 854 x 480 screen, I believe. So yeah, it isn't great. But I don't think that matters as much as the fact that it's there. Why would developers support this PS3 (or PS4)/Vita cross-play if no one has a Vita? Think about how every Wii game supports the Wiimote and how few PS3 games support the Move. Now imagine that divide, but 100x worse.

Hopefully their plans are to be profitable from day one. This way we can expect a more moderately priced system and closer spec'd to Wii U. :)

I actually think that would be a bad thing. Not only would the core crowd flip out (look at how negative they are towards the Wii U and how it lacks power according to them), but with Sony's extreme dedicated stance to the core player that it's been pushing stronger and stronger, they will have to keep up with demands and needs of the cores or they'll get fed up.

That's kind of why I worry about Sony's plan from a business perspective. But the PS3 sure is selling well right now, so they're definitely on a good track with that system.

Core crowd is negative towards Wii U because of Nintendo.

Sony would have a completely different presentation with at least one exclusive core game. Nintendo simply doesn't make 'that' style of game usually. So, its up to 3rd parties most of the time and ZombiU was good, but not 'that' game.

Had Nintendo had a Retro game from day one or built games like Uncharted or Last of Us, it would be different.
