Do you have a source for that Wii U controller cost? Because I don't think that thing with its low quality DS style screen is going to cost them more than $50 to produce.

The graphics on the screen shown off at E3 for games like Batman:  Arkham City and even the Othello game are quite a bit better than DS quality graphics, and if it's not better than that, then it's going to be tremendouslyunderpowered because isn't one of the major selling points to be able to take your games off the screen and onto the controller at the same quality that they were in on your tv if you want to play a game while somebody else is watching tv?
