I think it's pretty good as it is now. Really, for people who are complaining now, I don't think those bans are bad (in general). I don't mean to pick on anyone, but I'll use Turkish's linked post as an example. A comment like that adds nothing to a discussion and isn't really funny. It is trolling the 360. But most importantly, it adds nothing to the discussion. I don't mind a ban for something like that. After all, the idea of a ban is to tell people to not do that again. And if people keep doing it, obviously they aren't getting the message. Again, I'm not trying to pick on anyone, so please don't take it personally.

I know that Khuutra was the one really arguing for more strict moderation, and I can sorta see his point. More strict bans would make people think twice before posting something questionable or posting spam. But I don't want to see people leave the site because the moderation is too strict either.

I think its ok as it is. Ive read the forum rules and obey them. As a result Ive not been banned or warned.

It should be looser. Especially for active members who post alot in the forum.

Example:

I was banned for 7 days for posting this comment

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4543634

I found that picture on another forum where the user did not get banned.

Reason for ban:Trolling (The "xbox 360 has no games" joke is getting old. )

Banning for a whole week just posting a picture wich many people thought was funny is exaggerating.

I don't even get warnings anymore, when my comment is not liked I get banned for long periods.

I posted an alot in the forums. Am I immune to moderation now?

And your post was definitely trolling. It's fine if the other site's rules don't extend to banning that sort of thing, but ours do.

Its not the sites rules in question here since they're fine. But what the moderators perceive as trolling. And I have the idea this site's mods perceive more as trolling and are more likely to use the ban button then other forums I'm participating in.

Posts or signatures slamming a particular platform without basis - be it a specific console, macs, windows, or anything similar - will not be tolerated.

  • The forums are here for gamers of all persuasions, so unless you're in a thread specifically geared towards platform comparison/discussion, keep your anti-platform comments out of the thread. Note that there is a difference between having a reasonable argument in the correct thread and trolling.
  • Similarly, do not create threads, posts or signatures just to bait people of a specific fan group. Bait threads will be locked and you will be moderated for them. If you spend a lot of time making hit-and-run negative threads or posts about a specific platform you will also be moderated at the discretion of the moderators.

I think I have disappointed many for not getting banned throughout the E3. And with more then 50 comments I made in the Microsoft E3 conference thread, not even 1 was marked as trolling. I made a thread about Star Wars Kinect metacritic scores since I was surprised it was so low, I got banned for trolling. I know if I formulated my thread title different like "we need to talk about SW kinect scores" I would not have been banned.

You don't disappoint anybody for not being banned.

We don't enjoy moderating people. We do it because it's necessary.

Your thread title had little to do with the moderation. It was more your ridiculous claim that it was hyped up to be a great game, and your assertion that Kinect would only be used for dancing games in the future.

Believe it or not, SW Kinect was one of the biggest games shown last year. It was put as the hardcore game to push Kinect for core gamers.

Check my record of bans....

Stupid fucking fanboys should be put in their place, and THEY should be banned. If you want a long term smoother running site with less pricks, more intellectual talk and more ad revenue from people who don't literally want to be sick after reading the crap that gets away without a ban.

The bans I've received have been for calling out fanboys and calling out pricks.

This guy above me, a clearly a pain in the arse for example.

Permaban people like this and let some good old dicussion take place!

Trouble is with mods not intelligent enough to perceive a fanboy from a fan and a person trolling on purpose albeit with stealth special moves lol.

Yes by Microsoft, but the vast majority of VGC users (including the 360 and Kinect owners) said that the game is going to fail reception-wise. You can go and look up the 2011 E3 thread or any other thread about it.
However it is indeed one of the biggest Kinect games sales-wise.

The people who call out pricks for being pricks get punished, and the pricks get a pat on the back.

That's how it works here, because like said, not intelligent enough to discern the two.

Some of the fanboy infected crap spewed here riles me up like no tomorrow. People with some kind of fucked up console domineering agenda (weird i know) shouldn't be allowed on sites like this.
