but this year? i dot see it happening

Why not, it happenned every time with Nintendo (GBA and DS), why this time is going to be different?

It could not happen obviously, but all things point to it, not the contrary.

Yes, because the system needs a new image.

That's why they're slapping DQ Slime decals on the outside!

Why would it be the 3DS Lite? It is basically the same size of the DS Lite.  It should be called the 3DS Micro if there was a reduction in size. The system is almost too small for me as is.  They should make a XL version if anything.

not yet

If they put a 2nd circle pad on the revision, they need to make it the size of a DSi XL because as it is, the system will feel too cluttered. It already feels awkward having the circle pad and d-pad right next to each other like that.

OT: We won't be seeing a 3DS revision at this year's E3 or the rest of the year.

It was more of a shorthand for a revision, but your point is taken.

I was just giving you a hard time.

The DS Lite came out June 2006, in the same year as the Wii. Also the DS-Lite came 19 months after the original.

I can see Nintendo releasing a hardware-revision soon, because they lose money on the 3DS right now. They may have reduced the cost producing it in some months, but even then the win will be small. They obviously cannot increase the price of the device. But they could ask for a higher price for a new SKU, if the perceived value is higher and at the same time the production cost is only slightly higher.

Some changes they could make:
* XL more likely than a Lite (they could easily put bigger batteries in the bigger design and many adults think the device is very small)
* second circle-pad obviously (although I don't think they want to go in that direction)
* better battery-life
* better display (increase 3D-experience and/or reduce power consumption)
* a stylus, that is not folding (I hate that) and gets a position in the device, that is better accessible
* maybe an edition with switched position of D-pad and circle-pad for people who prefer digital input over analog (or games that use digital input)

And keep in mind: it's all speculation. I have no idea, how long Nintendo will wait and what changes they plan.

Nikkei claims 3DS with larger screen incoming, Wii U price at 30,000 yen, non-game distribution
June 4th, 2012 Posted in 3DS, Posted by Valay, Rumors, Wii U

For the past few years, Nikkei has reported on a number of elements set to be announced during Nintendo’s E3 2012 presentations. The publication has followed its tradition once again this year, providing possible news regarding news during tomorrow’s conference.

If Nikkei is to be believed, a new 3DS model is on the way, and it’ll feature a larger, 4.3 inch top screen – that’s 1.5 times the current size. Apparently this update could hit North America, Japan, and Europe as early as Summer 2012.

Nikkei also published rumors about Wii U, which will supposedly be priced at roughly 300,000 yen. That’s roughly $383, though Nintendo would likely adjust that price for other markets. It should be made clear that this is not the final price from Nintendo, and we won’t be hearing about this tomorrow.

Nikkei’s other Wii U rumor suggests that the console will be capable of distributing non-game content such as a car navigator, books, and a karaoke service featuring approximately 10,000 songs.
