Just thought I should tell you guys, with the upcoming release of Final Fantasy III on PSP and the Final Fantasy X remaster heading for Vita, every Final Fantasy game from 1 - 10 will be available on the Vita.

Same, I was going to get it for PS3, but it will look great on the small screen. The portability is a great novelty too.

If it was a full fledged remake I would of gotten it on the PS3, but from what I hear it may be a HD remake, I might as well get it for the Vita since I played the PS2 version like 3 times xD! (And I agree with you on the Portability being a great novelty ;p). |
Oh hey Basil, didn't realise it was you.
I completed it in September for the first time! The HD remake was announced the next day at TGS, I found it on Google at school, I was so pissed.
Definitely getting the Vita version.

Quadrilogy? He directed Final Fantasy X too.

Ah, I didn`t know that. Maybe that`s why X felt like a jump up from 9. I think I would like X as much as the other three games he directed if it had larger and more interesting cities - I know that FFX is supposed to be a post-apocalyptic world, but it would have been nice to have more than one city in the game.

I honestly like XII and XIII as well! xD |
Why don't you do the FFIV DS one, it's excellent.

That's all relative, there were around 5 towns in the game, only Luca had many areas, but even then Luca wasn't too much bigger, and the Al-Behd town is one time only. Two Zupuff stations, 3 stand alone temples. And a few stand alone inns. There was plenty in the game.

Yeah, but I really enjoyed the huge and busy feeling places of Galbadia, Narshe, Midgar, Esthar, Timber, and those sorts of towns. As well as some really comfortable feeling towns like Kohlingen, the Shumi Village, Cosmo Canyon, Winhill (which you could say about certain places in FFX for sure).
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't really want to speak badly about FFX, because I feel it is certainly one of the best FF games; but there are some aspects I did miss from previous games - but I also liked others that were added. I liked the return to a turn-based Battle system with a new approach to how turns are awarded.
Another thing, FFX had a lot of people wandering around the world, which was a very nice addition.
So I will say this, that FFX is my fourth favourite, but that it is not meant to be a put-down in any way because I would still count it among my very favourite games along with FF6, 7, and 8.
FF12, had some big towns, but also BIG EMPTY SPACES where there was litterally nothing to do but walk around.

I'm planning to do a recording of that once I finish the above mentioned.

The DS version has an augment system that is really fun and interesting. The PSX doesn't have it. Just for that reason it's >>> the PSX version. I don't think any other version has it.
The DS version is harder, the leveling was changed at the end of the game so it's more of a challenge.
The Namingway subquest is fun, and adds value to the game.
The only thing it doesn't have is the extra dungeons and bestiary of GBA and PSP versions :( which sucks. Otherwise it's the version by excellence.
The script is also the best of the game, the translation was completely redone. The PSP one is based of a semi-new translation of the GBA version, with some DS bits.
Also, the 3D graphics are not clunky in comparison with the likes of the final fantasies on PSX, just a little below. You get used to the clunkiness and actually the colors are very good and the art is great.
You're not looking at it right. Bad animations is just one part of the story and it's really debatable in this case. Also, I can argue that the PSP version's sprite are totally out of character with old-school FF sprites, they are too big. But that's my taste.
In your comparison, you didn't mention the GBA version, which is considered by fans to be the version by excellence of the game, from what I read (can't find the source).
Have you completed FFIV DS? I would suggest you give it a second try, it has the best value for an FFIV flavor this far.
