Forums - Gaming - Wii U Darksiders 2 graphics "at least as good" as PS3, Xbox 360 versions'

This is old news. And the quote from the director is what set the whole, Wii U will be less powerful then the HD twins in motion months ago. He went back and clarified that the team wasn't going to push the graphics in any way to make them look better on the Wii U. So yeah its going to be a semi-lazy port. But with THQ haven't the financial problems it has, you shouldn't really expect more than that. To create new art resources for the a new system would be a considered for them a waste since there is no really garentee it will sell on on a Nintendo system. (Since historically most 3rd party offerings don't but that is most a problem with the 3rd parties this last gen).

ThiS. except for the bolded, which I would say the GC 3rd party games didnt fly off the shelves either (sans RE) and to a lesser extent N64

Well after the N64 the 3rd parties, except for Capcom which was using Nintendo as a life line since their business was financially in trouble at the time, didn't want to bother for the most part with the Gamecube. But that started to turn around right before Nintendo made a stupid manufacturing mistake and made way too many, and had to stop making them. (In response to oniyide.)

Adding a little bit to what I was saying before. The game was developed right beside the PS3/Xbox 360 versions which means it was done on the older SDK units, which rumors say was given a significant power boost at the beginning of the year, which may also have lead to them not wanting to changing things late in the development of the title. As said, THQ is cash straped right now and them just making a game for the new system should be a nod that they believe in what Nintendo is bringing to the table.

Ethomaz, I have lost respect for you.

Why? That's not about success... the Wii U can be a commercial success as the Wii even though a old gen graphics.

People who think they have inferior graphics is a downside that will influence the success of a console are wrong... I think even with lower graphics (old gen) the Wii U can be a success as well as the Wii.

That's my point... I like graphics  but that's not a decisive factor.

IMO.

It's not old gen. I wish you would stop pointing that wrongness out.

The Wii has old gen graphics... sorry.

Fuck just 2 lines of code It takes me more lines to write the hello world code lol.

I'd actually argue that it's the art style of the SMG games that give it the nice visuals, just like Skyward Sword, but you've got to admit that there are games on the PS2 that look just as good as Wii games, maybe even better than most third party Wii games, God of War II for example. Each consoles best looking game tends to come from first party.

And what you said about PS1 games looking better than PS2 games, you can't give any examples, and the hardware of the PS2 was MUCH better than the PS1 at the time, whereas the Wii is only slightly better than the PS2 (Yet the graphical increase is only shown on Nintendo games, and it's not that much different), not an entire generational leap, that's just dumb thinking on your behalf.

Whatever anyway, I didn't want to start an argument, I was just giving my opinion, and so far I've had two people tell me what I think is wrong, since I clearly stated that a lot of people base the power of a console on graphics alone.

You're giving an opinion on the factual statistics of hardware. That's not an opinion. It's wrong.

Also you can't discount Nintendo games. Most 3rd parties barely even tried on Wii. Why not use the best looking games on the system? You statement was the PS2 and Wii are the same power, which is wrong. However even comparing the best the systems had it's very clear. Or even comparing multiplatform games like SH:SM

Oh also best of PS1

Worst of PS2

So yes there are some PS1 games that look better than some PS2 games. It doesn't mean anything though and basing a comparison of power off of games on a system is certainly a stupid thing to do.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I don't understand why this comment is taken so out of context and attacked by fans.

1) What he is saying is that their team saw no need to focus on upgrading visuals and thus Wii U will look the same as PS360.
2) We know it took a mere few weeks to get it up and running on Wii U hardware (including tablet) and thus the means Wii U is very port friendly.
3) He is also saying that the team decided to focus on what truly sets the Wii U apart from current gen and probably the rest of next gen... the tablet controller.

So they've spent the last year determining the best approach in working with the controller. The game's visuals are not going to improve the game. But the superior controls will set it apart as the best version.

Additionally, it will probably run at 1080p 60fps where the others are running at 720p

Early games on Wii U will only look better then the PS3/360 counterparts when they render in 1080.

If Wii U is more powerful then PS3/360. Otherwise the higher resolution will result in everything else being lowered

It *is* more powerful. We've gotten beyond disputing that at this point.

Truly? I've seen many conflicting reports on the matter.

All of the "weaker/only as strong" reports come with anonymous reporters behind them. The "stronger/sufficient" reports come with names.

I am still not 100% sure it will be more powerful though. I want to see what Nintendo have to say at E3 first

Nintendo doesn't say. They have never said and they never will say. They do fight with there competitors the way fanboys for other consoles want them too. Nintendo does not look at it in that way competitively. They haven't been about bosting system specs since the N64. You will learn nothing about it power at e3 or ever. It least not from them.

They have yet to realease the official specs and capabilities of even the Wii.

Have you completely ignored my comparison thread for the last month?

NEXT-GEN COMPARISON THREAD

Anyone who thinks that Wii U will be anywhere near the power levels of PS360 is completely bonkers.

Wii U >>>> PS360. Even the worst case rumors point to that.
