Forums - Gaming - Wii U Darksiders 2 graphics "at least as good" as PS3, Xbox 360 versions'

Ethomaz, I have lost respect for you.

Why? That's not about success... the Wii U can be a commercial success as the Wii even though a old gen graphics.

People who think they have inferior graphics is a downside that will influence the success of a console are wrong... I think even with lower graphics (old gen) the Wii U can be a success as well as the Wii.

That's my point... I like graphics  but that's not a decisive factor.

IMO.

This should show people who plan on purchasing the Wii U what to expect from 3rd party support. They will mostly get ports of 360/PS3 games, only slightly optimized (mostly to use the tablet controller). Of course, this will only be for the first year or 2. If the Wii U is HUGE, then developers will still support it. However, if it only sells mediocre, then most of the 3rd parties will move on to the NeXbox and PS4, and it will be the Wii all over again.

Edit:  As for 1st party games, I'm expecting them to look as good as the best looking PS3 games available.  While they will look good, it won't be much of a reason to purchase the Wii U for ~$300-$350 when a year later the NeXbox and PS4 will be launching with much better graphics and cost $50-$100 more.

But if you are a Wii only owner would that be a bad thing??  You would now have the opportunity to play games that you were not going to play otherwise.

The GC is more powerful than PS2 and the Wii is more powerful than GC

You do the math

Oh I’m sorry I shouldn’t have corrected someone with an opinion with actual facts as facts will not change anything anyway.

Carry on >_>

Maybe it is more powerful, but I've yet to see a game on the Wii that doesn't look any better than a PS2 game, if only SLIGHTLY better... maybe it has more processing power or whatever, but a lot (Maybe most gamers, who knows) of people will judge a consoles "power" on graphics alone, which yeah, is wrong, and I'll admit I do it myself sometimes, but if I look at a game playing on two screens, one on the PS3 and the other on the Wii, just from the graphics alone I can tell which is the more powerful console... if I see a PS2 and a Wii game side by side, they'll look nearly identical... that's what I mean when I say it's on par...

Madness. Utter Madness. The wii is more powerful than the PS2. There is no debate and no maybe there. There are plenty of games where it shows too. MP3, SMG1+2, basically most of the stuff Nintendo puts out.

And no your own defintion of'on par' literally means nothing. Based on the logic that some PS2 games look better than some Wii games..... well some PSone games looked better than some PS2 games so PS1 is on par with PS2?

Had you stated roughly similar ball park then maybe you would have more of a point. But on par means ....on par i.e. level, the same etc.

I'm gonna make a prediction. Some 3rd parties will put out low quality ports, they will look embarassing compared to Nintendo's efforts and thus Nintendo's games will sell far better. Those 3rd parties will complain only Nintendo games sell.

We already know the system has 1.5GB of RAM currently available for games. That's a hefty increase over the 360/PS3. My guess though is that unless we see a big 3rd party exclusive Nintendo will be the only ones to really use the system. Even then though it will be their first attempt at a HD game and I wonder how it will be. As it is the only 3rd party exclusive I can think of is 'Killer Freaks from outer space' which screams B-team game so loud it's deafening.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

No surprise.. .not because the Wii U is "underpowered", but because this is going to be the norm for just about every 3rd party multiplatform title released in the first 6-12 months of the system's life. Quick and dirty ports with maybe some enhanced controls or features due to the tablet controller is exactly what I expect from most 3rd party Wii U games.

Honestly though it's really up to Nintendo to set a precedent for the visual and performance quality of Wii U games, because that will push 3rd parties to compete more. If Nintendo launches with a lineup of games that look no better than your average PS360 game, and even some games that carry over the simplistic visual style of Wii games like most of those "demos" we saw at E3 last year, then 3rd parties will see no reason to devote extra time and effort into their games.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

A game for a next gen console shouldn't look as good as a game on a previous gen console. It should be far better.

I agree. I'm not a graphics fanatic (although sometimes it's good to gloat), but any next gen SHOULD look better.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

That's why I believe Randy Pitchford talking about how Aliens for the Wii U is the best looking one. You can see the passion he has for the Wii U.

Randy Pitchford is passionate about everything he is involved in and tends to overhype it, just look at Duke Nukem Forever or Borderlands PC. Before Borderlands came out he talked about how it would be the best version and was getting special treatment and was targeting high end PCs, now Gearbox for Borderlands 2 marketing are talking up how they are going to treat PC gamers right, and not botch the port this time, and will have lots of graphical extras they multiplayer won't be botched etc. He is a bit like molyneux really he always hypes up (often overhyping ) everything he is working on.

It's not old gen. I wish you would stop pointing that wrongness out.

Two solid predictions.

Like i said, i don´t expect anyone other than Nintendo, and maybe a handful of 3rd parties, to really show what the system can do..and really, it´d be no different than the past, just history repeating itself.

Would "PS3 games will look just as good as PS2 games" make the news?

Why is this even particularly news worthy? Is it that 3rd parties don't want to use the full extent of the Wii U's power or that Wii U doesn't really have much more power than the PS360 in the first place?

With new hardware they never going to risk more money...ìt's a common rule. The article says "..at least.." so that 's a good sign.
