You could generate graphs out of the database. This stuff some people do now with excel, copying the data to excel to generate graphs.

And generally: Lesser amount of advertisement, simpler layout, more centered around the data. That made thins better for some people.

... How could I ever forget about JohnLucas.

But who was JohnLuvas? =P what did he do that no one else around here can do now?

It sounds as if we all just have to come together and force the admins to change the layout after our needs!

And where DID all those female gamers go?! I'm starting to believe you all made that up...

Oh, we had a few.  They posted all the time, too.  We had Onna, NFG, Lolita, Girl Gamer Elite (She wasn't a man, dammit!), GBallzack, Trashleg, some insanely hot girl that was so hot I didn'te even want to talk to her--can't remember her name, though, VGChartz Girl, and others.  Aside from a few, most of them weren't just here for attention, either.  They really knew their stuff.  The ones that were always trying to flirt were (GBZ, GGE) were the ones that were suspect but I still think they were really girls.  Trashleg was my friend on XBL and NFG and Onna were my friends on Wii.  I miss those guys.

Yeah, I understand you miss 'em; female gamers are RARE! espacially if they know what they're talking about! I kinda feel sad for you old timers... It's like you're Ents and all your Entwife have gone wandering off...

I may go the way of Snake612 soon.

OH NOO!!!

You already left once and came back after we had to go through a lot of trouble getting you back!! First we used our internetz spies to track down your youtube account.. some say it was just a quick google search but we did hire spies...  then tried to convince all the active women on the site to ask you back, in the end only NFG wanted to ask you back... in the meantime we men tracked down the member which got you so upset and left the site.. We used the combined powers of  2 google accounts to find him.. when we tracked him down in Germany, 5 of us drove down there and ... well lets just say his mother wasn't to pleased what we did to her son... we don't want to repeat that again

Lmfao!  Did he suffer?  Please tell me he did!  If I ever did leave, it would be exactly like Snake.  I'd come back almost immediately.  It's just hard finding a worthwhile thread to post in.  I don't even think I'd mind a good troll thread right about now.  What is Superman without his Lex Luthor?

Hehe well then lewis, tell us newbs what a good thread is =)

Oh, I sucked at making threads.  A good thread was usually one that left a lot of room for differing opinion.  It wouldn't hurt if the OP was batshit crazy or controversial, either.  For example, if you said something about how all Xbox players just play shooters.  The Xbox players could come in and show how they played multiple genres but the people that believed the argument could show how shooters dominate XBL sales.  It was open for interpretation, left room for personal experience, jokes, and some fine stealth trolling.

We need a common enemy.  We need somebody that would come in and get us all riled up and make us go to bed at night thinking about how we're going to prove that WE were right and HE was wrong.  We don't have many of those guys, now.  Today, the OP often asks and answers the question in the OP.  There isn't really much room for debate, anymore.

So many funny, intelligent and great members that I miss. So many good threads and lots of really interesting discussions. The main difference between now and then is the overall level of acvitity, we had fewer active users but they were more, well, active.
And the game related threads were often long and very deep.
Let's not forget some of the epic pissing contests either!

We had crazy predictions (truly insane, nothing like today) and people making deeper anlysis, it just seemed like the average member cared more about games.

I still love vgchartz but it has changed over time, but I honestly can't say whether its for better or for worse. That the site is a lot better from a technical point of view and in terms of recognition if beyond anyone to question though.

There are some members who have arrived in the last two years who have proven to be real assets as well, and I am thankful for every single one of them.
For epic threads, basically anything started by John Lucas, Avinash, Crazzyman or Starcraft is a good place to start. Some of them had utterly ludicrous premises and OP's but could lead to truly good debates and discussion and I feel like I learned a lot from all of it.
All in all, my time on vgchartz is by far what has given me the most growth in the field of debating and reasoning and that is valuable of every segment of one's life.

I can't tell you that... it's for your own protection that you can't know what happend.. the 5 of us will carry that burden, but it was worth it getting you back.. lets just say there is a good reason he never came back here... and don't worry about the threads.. e3 coming up, new consoles, new gen, there should be some great threads coming up in the future..

That's what I'm saying :D This place is like a savanna: dry for long periods of time, but then comes the e3 and all the announcements which brings new life!

Aaaw man, that DOES sound kinda epic :D Unfortunately I can't stir up that kind of commotion for ya... But as far as I know there's been quite a few Nintendoboys trolling the Vita thread... But that's perhaps just to blunt trolling?

Who was this ultra-PS3-fanboy? He said stuff, like - when PS3 starts in Europe it will dominate, ok didn't happen, but when Motorstorm comes it will dominate.

And what happened to the prediction-league?

But don't you think that the insane predictions will return come e3, this year or the next? Why do you think there is no crazy ass predictions or deep analysis now a-days?

What kind of epic threads did they start, the old timers? Could it be that you, all the vets, have learned so much that you just shot down all those crazy statements now?

Yeah.  I tried it once.  It was when Mass Effect came to the PS3.  I pretended to be pro-Sony and said that the series should be made for the PS3 because it would only be one disc on that console and that the 360 was holding Mass Effect back.  Of course, most people knew I was just starting trouble since I'm pretty pro-360.  It's like how your girlfriend gets bored so she picks a fight just to stir things up.  But like you guys said, E3 is coming.  If that doesn't do it, nothing will.

Oh well.  More time for Xenoblade, I guess.
