I think the most annoying part is that it doesn't seem like the skills have branches and that you can't choose which stats you want.
Do you like the new D3 skill "system"? | |||

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, the game is basically doing the thinking for you and instead of options and choices you are simply presented with the everything at once. What if I want to pour all my points into Strength for instance? I can't, not with this system since the game distributes all the points for me. The game could still be a lot fun but I fail to see how this lack of depth will keep me enthralled like the last Diablo. I think the whole situation might become at least slightly better when the first expansion pack is released.
Autoplay features, quicktime events and win buttons have no business being in RPG's in my opinion. Then again, seeing how few games I've actually enjoyed this gen, maybe I'm just a hopeless dinosaur who pines for dead and dying recipes and concepts.
Edit; badgenome; that is certainly a part of my thought process. The console friendly business model is strangling traditional RPG's and strategy games.

But consider that: you dont put skillpoints into your character anymore, but you choose what stats you prefer on your items just like before. This is, for me, the same thing. And you can't make any unrevertable mistakes anymore. |
Genius post, this is basically where the stat allocation went to. Instead of making irreversible (prior to 1.13) stat allocations, you simply select the gear setup that will best work for your build. That is also why there is a massive increase in the number of item sets and items period that allow players to tweak their builds any way they want to, without any repercussions. They didnt remove stat allocation, they just made the process much more intuitive and user friendly, especially for people such as myself that work a full time job and attend school full time but would still love to enjoy d3 to its fullest.

And no, they are not doing the thinking for you when it comes to skills either. I seriously dont understand what is so appealing about having to level 10 different sorcs to the do the same thing. Diablo 2 only survived this way because of serious glitches such as g-rushing, otherwise NOONE wouldve played through that game as many times as it would've took to "perfect" a build. The skill system takes the monotonous grind out of the equation that accompanies systems such as the one d2 has. You are limited in the number of skills you can use at any one time, which provides enough for players to think about, not to mention the rune system that can completely alter a skills properties to further allow players a nice amount of customization when it comes to the skill system alone. Everything everyone loves about d2 is returning in a refined, and much more intuitive way, just take some time to think about it.

You can, its called equipment. And there are branches, they're called skill runes.

Two main action buttons and 4 quick skill buttons?
Console version confirmed++

I think Diablo 3 is an old "old school" game with high tech running through its veins. XD

If the game is Awesome, and it is released for consoles, then I hope they will release it on PSN (and retail obviously).

But don't tell me I haven't thought about it, I've been playing and loving Blizzard games since Lost Vikings first came out and I've been keeping my eyes on this for a decade. |
I like Diablo 3. I don't really like Diablo 2. The reason why is D2 just has an archaic skill system. I do like the set paths. But trying to figure out what the fuck to do is a pain in the ass.
I don't like the UI in D2 which makes its skill system complicated. I wish they kept the same skill system in D3 but just made the UI better. Instead they made the UI better and the skill system worse.
However, I'd like to finish the game before I continue to bitch.
