I have nothing against the concept of redemption and you don't need to explain it all to me...remarkably, I do get the transition that is taking place.
It's just I would have preferred the whole sequence not be handled with all the subtlety of a daytime soap that's all. It was cheap and it was tacky and I remember laughing my ass off even when I saw it at the cinemas as a kid. I mean you complain about SITH ruining Vader's character...Jedi reduced the biggest bad ass villain in cinema history into a weeping, smiling humpty dumpty-esque figure all for the sake of envoking a cheap emotional reaction from the audience (that's not the epitome of character development, it's cheap, hackneyed autopilot scriptwriting!)... I've seen eps of Melrose Place with greater emotional resonance. I don't actually mind the concept of Vader/Anakin finding redemption, it just could have been done a lot better.
