Forums - Microsoft - Convince an Android fan, to use a WP7 more

Google grows revenue twice as fast as Microsoft does on a yearly basis and i'm talking about the corporations overall, not whatever divsions the smartphones are in. Expect google to get closer to catching up to MS's revenue a year from now and in two years the numbers will be even closer still. People rave about how great MS's marketing is, but the ability basically comes from MS being able to throw money around like crazy to solve the marketing problem. Even if WP7 just maintains its marketshare, expect Google to put up somewhat harder competition in a year and this will be even more so two years from now.

Msft should just pull out while the going is good.

Lol I don't care who wins or losses money, they're corporate companies and I don't work for them , I just want the better phones, might as well they all go to hell. don't really care.

My point was that WP7 will have a harder time just staying afloat after a year or two.

Seeing as you clearly didn't like WP7 from the HD7, I'm not sure why you would listen to fanboys and let the hype get to you.

Like with so many other things, fanboyism is not the answer, and Android might very well be better suited to your needs and desires. WP7, Android and iOS all have different strengths, and one platform will only be superior to the other according to the needs of the individual.

I personally haven't owned an Android device, so I can't really give you any comparisons, but I can tell you why I like WP7. I don't put huge requirements on my phone, I just need something that can do what dumbphones do and let me browse the web and check my mail, while having the occasional app to make things easier and better, like navigation, public transport, games, etc.

WP7 does all that beautifully, in an interface I find easy and quick to use. I don't need customization above what WP7 already offers and the limitations Microsoft set on hardware means basically every app runs well on my device (despite its age). So WP7 is definitely a system for me, but whether it is so for you is something else.

Thanks rainbird (I thank you because your posts are very reasonable..... most of the times >__> )

I guess that's more personal preference...

For me: Symbian^3 >> IOS >> WP7 >> Android

The Android have little performer and drains so much battery... for run ok it's need over 1Ghz processor and 512MB RAM... these things drains battery.

I get a lot of battery time and i have wireless / 3G with auto sync all the time, it doesn't drain battery as much as you think.

My last android phone could not stand one day without charging the battery... I like phone with 3-5 days of battery .

Haha, thanks, I do what I can.

I don't know about you guys but I am having a very very bad experience with android on my droid 3.

Android OS constantly crashing causing the screen to just go black.

All apps, from youtube to a finance app, constantly crashing which freezes the phone because forceclose works 10% of the time, forcing me to remove the battery and restart the phone.

When phone is off it takes around 5-10 minutes for it to boot up and considering I need to reset it around 3 times a day, that becomes a big pain. Sometimes it gets stuck in the bootup splash screen forever and I need to remove battery.

Phone randomly reboots  just for the fun of it. Battery occasionally completely discharges.

Headphone jack works half the time. Playing songs through either headphones or the built in droid speaker causes a lot of skipping, sounds kind of like playing a cd that has lots of scratches. The same mp3 files play fine on my laptop, zune, and itouch.

My music playlists get deleted whenever I charge my phone using my laptop.

If I want to play any game, I need to reboot it first because if its been on for over an hour it will lag like crazy even playing something simple like scramble with friends, despite the droid 3 having very good specs.

Phone gets very hot doing anything but idleing.

With minimum brightness, wifi and navigation off, battery lasts around 3 hours of none idle time(browsing web, texting, finance app) or 2 hours playing games or watching videos. Lasts a long time on idle though.

Verizon assured me that is the way the phone is suppose to act after trying to return it thinking it's possibly defective.

This is my first smartphone, but come upgrade time I'm probably not going to get an android phone again. Its too bad apple and microsoft don't make phones with physical keyboards. That's the one thing I like about my droid 3. It's much easier to type things and emulators and roms control much better with the keyboard than touch controls.

Sorry to hear that, but it is just that you have a bad/defective phone. The last time I rebooted my phone was nearly one month ago and that was because of the battery. Everything is still perfectly smooth so far. It takes 30 seconds to boot and most of the time is spent on reading the memory card etc. It is an old phone by the way not SGS2 or Nexus or anything.

There is still hope for your phone though if you are not going to replace it soon, go to XDA and flash a ROM you like, it seems your phone is barely usable so no need to get worried about doing anything wrong  I guess. Samsung phones are nearly unbrickable so I have probably flashed at least 50 ROMs just for the fun of it but with a little bit of care you should do just fine.

It's more stable at the moment.

Also, it is faster because of the special SW it has. ^_^ (Sorry, probably not the best way to get you to switch over... I'm stuck with Android... T-Mobile user!)

Go use one. If you like it more than android, then buy one. I think these mobile OS wars are ridiculous. It's a simply a matter of preference in a given market.
