The Wii wasn't disappointing at all, it had some of the best games this generation. Just too bad most of the games I like to play on the Wii have moved on to ds and now 3ds.

1st party? No.

3rd party? Maybe, but with Monster Hunter, Goldeneye, Epic Mickey etc., there's plenty of great exclusives.

Sales? No. It will be the top console this gen by a wide margin.

Overall? No.

I own more games for my Wii than I have for any other console. So no, the Wii is not even close to being a disappointment.

i think that nintendo could have done better with the wii, but i do not think it's one of the biggest disappointments in gaming.

with games like super mario galaxy 1&2, metroid prime 3, skyward sword, new super mario bros wii, donkey kong country returns, monster hunter 3, xenoblade, the last story, kirby's epic yarn, sonic colors, super smash bros brawl, fire emblem: radiant dawn, not to mention the wii series of games, the wii has a pretty solid library.

now an example of one of the biggest disappointments in gaming would probably be closer to the sega saturn or the atari jaguar.

It let me play quality games that I can only play on it. It has my favorite game on it. I have a backlog for it. It was the first consoles I got 4 controllers for. Its the only machine that can babysit for me. Nintendo 1st party raised its own bar for its games. Only downside for me is that the online wasn't fully fledged out but i guess you can't win em all. In my eyes it's not a disappointment but I guess I saw candle instead of two people talking.

Easily the weakest library out of all Nintendo home consoles but one should keep in mind that's a very high threshold.

I'm not an expert, I have no facts to back up what I say, and I what I say is only me stating my opinion.

I always believed the failure with the Wii was down to its games. Though no one questions the first party games such as Mario, Zelda which are always of high quality and sell well. The problem being the 3rd party games which are lacking and mostly poor.

The problem this causes is that I always believed the Console developers makes most of their money off the games. This could also be reafirmed by Console makers being prepared to sell their consoles at a loss hoping to make the money back from the game sales.

Now given the Wii has sold over 90 million consoles worldwide, where as both PS3 & Xbox are just over 60 million each, if one was to look at the total amount of games sold over each of the consoles lifetime to date, both the PS3 and Xbox would have sold considerably more game than the Wii (individually) I would even being willing to bet that might as high as two or three times as many (each).

Because of this (being my thoughts) I would probably have to agree that the Wii is a slight failure. Though the Wii first party games sell and perform well how many do they release each year, two or three? and asie from those the Wii doesnt move many games.

I have every nintendo console since the SNES and I think the Wii is the worst of them in terms of gaming. Even with the GC Ive had more fun than with the Wii.

I can still play past consoles due to a common controller, I cant imagine anyone firing up their Wii from 10 years on for nostalgic reasons and play some motion based games. Especially Zelda Skyward Sword, learning the MotionPlus controls takes a few hours itself.
