Forums - Nintendo - EVEN MORE Xenoblade reviews? Still looking promising!

yeah, Xenoblade Chronicles is a very long game. Dragon Quest/Warrior VII is the only RPG I've played that has a longer story (however I felt DQVII really drags on at times, while I never thought that of Xenoblade Chronicles). I completed Xenoblade Chronicles in 102 hours, and that was with a lot (but not all) of the sidequests done, but none of the post-game. I finished the game with all my characters level 81 if I remember correctly, which meant I was a tad overleveled because I went through a sidequest rush at the end of the game.

Too bad the wii does not have much else coming out because this would be the game to get people excited about it again. Anyone think the wii will get a big boost these next two weeks?

Very good news about the review.

I think that because nothing is coming for Wii, that this game might get even more exposure. As for a boost, doubt it, this game is being released to one retailer 't and it will be a limited run.  If only Ninty werent being cowards...but im happy its coming at all.

Finally, as a HD title, the Metascore would likely have been 0, as it probably wouldn't have left Japan. If it did, around 86.

You really think so?  I can't think of a single example of a similarly budgeted HD JRPG that didn't make it to the West at some point, often times much faster than Ninty brought over Xenoblade.  Rest of your post seems reasonable but this bit just seems blatantly false.

I guess if you count certain platform versions of Tales games you could make the argument, but that's about it and all those games did make it to the West in one form or another so that seems like a poor argument.

...

If you have a Wii and likes JRPG's then this is a game you need to try out. Easily one of the best Wii games and one of the best games I've played this gen.

I was merely referencing the fact that only 1 previous Xeno_ title was released in the EU, where I live. I don't see why this game would be any different, were it not for the support from Nintendo.

I don't know if they came to America, but since there's a lot of support, I'd imagine they did. But they never were released here because they never had the financial backing. I imagine if it did release without Nintendo's support, it may not have reached these shores. So I'm grateful Nintendo did release it, is all.

FYI, this game was Xenosaga II. Not I or III, not Baiten Kaitos Origins (although the original was released here, but many, many months late) etc.

Definitely agree with this. Pretty much everyone who's played the game would say the same.

I haven't even played it yet and I agree. The wait for the North Amercan release is killing me!

The whole review did not really equal out to what the score was, but 82/100 is still alright I guess?

Looks like they took off a few points for not being, well, a Western RPG after reading that.  I was worried that more American reviewers were going to do that.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I'm excited to play it (I have it preordered). After Skyrim I swore off large engrossing RPG'S for a while, but monolith soft has never let me down before. I am a huge fan of the Baten Kaitos games, so it's no surprise that they did amazing work on the environments in this game. Some scenes from Baten Kaitos were very breathtaking. This is one developer that I give my full support too,.
