Funny part: Why not send robots:  as I understood it, they did not know which planet they would go to until they came out on the other side of the wormhole, and that’s not a decision a robot could make because you’re not communicating with the robot through the wormhole. So, humans had to be there to make that judgment once they got across and got the extra data. Yep that worked out well :)

was it TARS ? he looked like a robot who thinks for himself :D

I read almost all of the article my eyes hurt.

you know a movie is great when you can keep talking about it for hours..I liked the string part (string theory I suppose fabric of space and time, planck scale etc.) when he got sucked in the black hole never seen that in any movie not even in some of the best documentaries.

you know a movie is great when you can keep talking about it for hours..

I know, I have to resist the urge to go watch it again. I need some sleep though. I was up till 5am last night thinking about it.
So much easier with the blu-ray, hit extras, watch it again the next day.

TARS is a great new character. Although we can't feed ourselves in the future, we can at least make thinking robots with a great personality.

And now I need to stop googling quantum retrocausality, it's making my head hurt :)
You could explain the ending without spooky entanglement / communicating with the past. As Cooper hinted before, the last thing you think of before you die is your children. Which is exactly what he did. The 'aliens', failing before at communication, could be probing his mind for a way to get a bigger understandable message through. He demonstrates that with the watch. Then the 'aliens' replicate that using their tech. That way no cummincation with the past has to happen, no danger of time paradox, only clever manipulation by the 'aliens' They leave just enough information in Murph's room to make a lasting impact, but not enough to make him actually stay. Yet if they can manipulate and read our minds so well, why is it so difficult to send a message. Maybe they couldn't understand what data TARS needed to get, to complete the equation.
Ofcourse him being his daughter's own ghost is way more awesome :)

Speaking of Edge of Tomorrow, in the clip they question why not everyone is using the same type of sword as Rita is using.
The answer to that is in the manga that this movie is based on, called All You Need Is Kill. (Which has a lot of differences from the film btw)

Basically, Rita became so good at killing aliens that she eventually ran out of ammo every time she went into the battlefield. So she needed a weapon that had infinite ammo. The main character encountered the same problem, and also ended up weilding that weapon for the same reason. (Although in the manga they are weilding a giant halberd axe instead of a buster sword)
Also, random fun fact. Rita hasn't lost her ability to loop in the manga. So both of them have that capability.

Interesting. Does that mean time resets as soon as one of the dies? different starting points or same?

I thought it would be a nice twist if he keeps the ability, as well as the alpha(s). Yet when he dies and time resets the alpha doesn't remember, if the alpha dies and time resets he doesn't remember that instance. Then it becomes an arms race in trying to out predict the opponent. At some point Rita and him notice that certain things keep changing blocking their progress and it must be because at some point they kill the alpha although he has no memory of that. Which turns it into a race to keep the other alive until they have reached the goal.

I misunderstood the movie at first and through Rita lost her power because she lived on too long after she got it (not because of the blood transfusion), so it wears off over time. That would have been a better reason for the aliens to let her win Verdun. Plus a cooler scene where tom cruise desperately tries to kill himself after being restrained in the hospital.

Indeed the 3D worm hole entrance was very cool. I was a bit worried at first when they did the paper and pen trick again to explain worm holes, event horizon style, yet it kept getting better from there. Entering that wormhole in IMAX was breathtaking :)

It looks like the rest of that script could be used for a sequel. They can still find the Chinese remains on a different planet.

Mysteries of #Interstellar: In this unreal future, they teach unscientific things in science class. Oh, wait. That is real. HAHA

one of my worries was that there would be aliens..good that didnt happen. I dont know about a sequel but a new movie based on the first script im OK with that.

“My films are always held to a weirdly high standard for those issues that isn’t applied to everybody else’s films -- which I’m fine with,” Nolan tells

so true. if someone else made this movie (I cant be sure) im pretty sure most critics would have loved it.

I think about watching princess mononoke every time I see your avatar lol last time was on TV years ago maybe i'll watch with the wife soon..

why dont you play in hell (japanese)

movie about a movie. chaotic, energetic, silly its all over the place.. full package of entertainment but thats also the worst part it gets simply dull at times too much is sometimes less I guess ..the last action scene is where they start making the movie and its so ridiculous its simply amazing and unforgettable.. they sure did borrow a little bit from kill bill.

7.5/10

tried to watch hotel rwanda and as I suspected its not my thing..rewatched full metal jacket still great.

Well your missing out Hotel Rwanda is one of the best movies from 2004 and one of the best from that decade.  Its still is Don Cheadles best performance as a actor and one of Joaquin Phoenix and Nick Nolte best performance.  Plus its the best movie about one of the most tragic events of the 90's.

Maybe he can team up with Morgan Freeman and make Rendezvous with Rama. Great first contact story.

Morgan Freeman has been trying to get David Fincher to do it for years. I think it would be fine in Nolan's hands after watching Interstellar

The criticism of Interstellar compared to Gravity is a bit weird indeed.
IMDB movie goers are more reliable. Gravity meta 95, IMDB 8.0. Interstellar meta 73, IMDB 9.0. Her meta 90, IMDB 8.1. Inception meta 74, IMDB 8.8.
