Speaking of Edge of Tomorrow, in the clip they question why not everyone is using the same type of sword as Rita is using.
The answer to that is in the manga that this movie is based on, called All You Need Is Kill. (Which has a lot of differences from the film btw)

Basically, Rita became so good at killing aliens that she eventually ran out of ammo every time she went into the battlefield. So she needed a weapon that had infinite ammo. The main character encountered the same problem, and also ended up weilding that weapon for the same reason. (Although in the manga they are weilding a giant halberd axe instead of a buster sword)
Also, random fun fact. Rita hasn't lost her ability to loop in the manga. So both of them have that capability.

its based on the manga but has really nothing to do with the movie itself..cinemasins had the same complaints with TLotR
