The wikipedia page says it took them a long time to switch to HD due to the cost involved and the fragility of the HD equipment.  Hoping it does well on Fridays according to the wikipedia page there will be at least one more season after this one.  I could see the show moving to ABC since it actually produced by ABC Studios and I rember that ABC had a similar show to it a couple of years back but that one only lasted one season and I think it had teams of four people and the entire show took place in Morocco and pretty much all the travel took place on foot just can't remember the name of the show anymore probably still would if would have watched all the episodes. 

Well I did some more research and the show I mentioned earlier was called Expedition Impossible and I was wrong about the teams they had three people per team it only lasted one season and had ten episode of which I saw about three it was decent but nowhere near as good as The Amazing Race.

Expedition impossible was fun. Each season in a different country would have been interesting but without the equalizers it had the same problem as the first amazing race season, 1 team dominating and running out ahead. It became too predictable. Teams of 2 are more relatable as well.

The Alaska experiment / Out of the wild is the survivor alternative to expedition impossible. It was pretty interesting, single team dynamics for a change. Cancelled too of course, it made 3 seasons. Ultimate survival Alaska is still on, 4 teams of 3 competing in a race across Alaska. Didn't grab me, Alaska is overused.

The one great alternative to the Amazing race was The mole. But they fell in the B list celebrity trap to make it more interesting instead of stepping it up like the Amazing race did. Last season they went back to the original format, but only featured 2 countries, then it disappeared.

Just watched Under the Skin and damn was that movie strange. It felt a lot like the last portion of 2001: A Space Odyssey to me, due to its heavy focus of using noise and abstract visuals to set the mood the tell the story. Either way, really interesting movie....

No, I didn't know that, but I'm not really surprised...it felt very natural and genuine.

The episode where Cody Lundin leaves Dual survival finally aired, or rather the behind the scenes version. The behind the scenes info was pretty interesting, yeah it's all staged or rather planned / rehearsed more or less. The blow ups between Cody and Joe weren't and were cut out of the previous shows.

They try to paint Cody as the bad/crazy guy, and talk up Joe's hunting skills during the episode, then add to it by stating Cody didn't want to be interviewed for the episode. No wonder. (They didn't interview Joe either) Anyway the final (and previous) blow up in Norway made it pretty clear why Cody was fed up with Joe.

New guy doesn't look very interesting. They should have either cancelled the show or get 2 new people. I don't really care for Joe anymore. Maybe Cody and Les Stroud can hook up, do some real survival team work without a production crew.

I love 70s and 80s sci fi they are just so silly but thats what makes them good every scene is dramatic for no reason and they always find someone in outer space and that person knows someone they know or it turns out that person killed someone they know I can only imagine how movies like this blow peoples minds back then must have been a great time.
