Forums - Gaming - You wanna know what REALLY pisses me of about ME3 (No spoiler)

I still dislike the lack of a journal hotkey, though that's a minor thing.

The whole "reapear alertness" thing is rather silly and unnecessary. Indeed, the fetch quests in general were ridiculous filler.

More squadmates would have been very nice. I can understand that Wrex can't very well pack his bags and join you on the Normandy, but why not Grunt? Samara? Jack? Garrus and Liara are among the two best characters in the series but more characters = more fun.

The ending (less said there the better. Though the theory improves things enormously, it means that the ending is incomplete).

The ending aside, I only have minor complaints about the game. There are some brilliant moments, the story is beautifully told, and the gameplay is as satisfying as ever. I love the new twist brought by the multiplayer.

Having said that, I didn't feel that previous decisions really tied in very much to this game. Killed the rachni queen? Meh, here's a robot rachni queen. Killed the council in ME1? The salarian kind of likes you a little more. Destroyed the collector ship in ME2? Apparently not. They were too scared of making you feel the consequences of your actions.

It's coming as DLC.

Along with bullets that change colour depending on whether you are paragon, renegade or neutral. I feel that this is an enormous and significant difference.

I hate how you can't manage anything related to your weapons unless you're near a locker or happen to pick up a new one on the ground.

I also agree with Tor, the whole war map thing is absolute rubbish; you should be going around re-capturing lost territory, not playing multiplayer to up your 'galactic readiness' (how does that make any sense whatsoever?) Actually, an entirely self-contained, tacked-on multiplayer experience on teeny tiny maps against waves of random enemies having any affect on the single player experience whatsoever is bullshit full stop.

And yes, the walking/running animations suck. The in-game engine cut scenes feature terrible animations in general too, and bad lip synching. It's unfortunate, because I actually love the story elements and dialogue scenes, but the poor animations really can detract from the whole experience at times.

Also, why do we rarely get any dialogue options whatsoever anymore? It's like one per conversation at the moment.

And lordy do I wish someone would put a bullet through Specialist Traynor's head. She makes me cringe everytime she speaks.

I don't remember Mass Effect 2 having so many issues like this. Maybe it did and nostalgia is clouding my judgement, in which case they should damn well have improved it all in the two years since ME2. Either way, so far (I'm half way through), Mass Effect 2 is a vastly better game for its time and Mass Effect 3 is slightly disappointing.

I agree with this thing above. Imo, the less dialogue wheel, makes the dialogue seem a lot worse me. For instance, if I pick something, and shepard says something dumb I'm like "lol, why did I say such a dumb thing" now it's "omg why did he say that." Also there are way too many shepard monologues which I thought were always some of the worst dialogue in ME games.

The mission variety I thought was better in ME2. The last mission in ME2, the morinth mission, Thane's mission etc. Only 1 city hub compared to 3 in each of the previous 2. Lots of little things, in the 3rd bother me, that make it a fair amount worse.

Annoys me too. Ignorning badgenome basically owning the thead I'll inform you that apparently Bioware couldn't get the animation for it into memory (according to what I read here on the factually accurate internet) - which somewhat blows my mind given the same animation is in 1 & 2 on the same platforms on presumerably less optimized code too.

I presume they also had to skimp a bit on the running animation to get it into memory - such as removing half the frames needed to make it actually look like someone running.

No idea where the memory has gone - maybe they increased the overhead on memory elsewhere but it's an odd one.

I take the view Shepard is so at war in this one he has no time for putting away his gun and chatting - except he clearly does and the Reapers seem oddly content to fail to actually conquer anything while I toddle around the galaxy performing said chatting - and side missioning. Of course maybe I'll pay for this later... who knows.

But I nitpick. Mass Effect (like most RPGs I guess) seems addicted to the idea you need an imperative, no time to lose main plot that you spent a fair chunk of the game actively ignoring or taking your time getting around to

If I remember it was because of the PS3. And because they added a rolling animation.

This doesn't paricularly make sense to me, but I remember bioware confiming this on twitter. If I remember they said they were going to include the best elements of the hammerhead and mako in this game to though >_<.

I can't put my gun away!  Instead of giving me the option to holster my weapon, the "back button" is now some sort of instant save button.  It's not a big deal to anybody else, I'm sure.  I guess it's just my training.  It just really bothers me when I talk to my team or something and I can't even look at them without pointing a loaded gun in their face.  I guess Shepard really is a renegade.

The running animations in this game are really fucked up, too.  Just saying.

That was actually the first thing that pissed me off in the demo. At least he can run infinitely. I was getting sick of Shepard's lazy ass running out of breath after running for only twenty feet. All throughout ME2 I was annoyed that this bum could slow down time, but couldn't find the time to improve his cardio.

EDIT: And dancing in the future sucks.

I got the game the day it came out but today is really the first time I sat down and played it for a long amount of time. Most other days, I'd try to slip in an hour or two after midnight but since I usually wake up a 5am, I tend to fall asleep playing and have to go back to an older save.

Anyway, WTF? That whole lack of memory thing is actually the excuse they gave for not having a holster animation! I can't believe it!! I kinda got used to it but it just doesn't feel right. Do you know how tired your arms would get if you held a gun like that all of the time? I just came across that hot Krogan female (told you guys I'm not very far into the game). If my Shephard can somehow romance her, I'll overlook every single flaw in this game!

I'm starting to really enjoy the game, now. I guess I just got too used to the awesomeness that was Mass Effect 2 and these changes are kind of jarring to me. Even the conversations don't seem to branch in any direction. It's just questions and answers. I don't think I've had to make a single choice, yet. It's disappointing.

I guess ME3 is about the culmination of the choices we made in the earlier games. Add to that the constraints that current hardware and media have and it was obviously unrealistic for us to think that every choice would lead to an entirely different outcome. There were just too many possibilities. They'd have had to have made three different versions of Mass Effect 3 if they went all out like that. Still a great game but it has some questionable design issues.

And for the record, I would totally pay to download that holster animation. It really is that big of a deal to me.

And who the hell saves so frequently that they need a dedicated save button, anyway!? Savey McSaverton the saving-est guy in all of Save Town?

the game autosaves anyways doesn't it? like before like any critical event? I played it on PC, but that seems like a waste of a button, it would have benefited from separating the run/cover/action button (ME2 had this problem too).

No Lizard boning for you I'm afraid.  It's kinda like Samara in ME2, it just seems like such a daunting prospect to sleep with them I just want to see how it works mechanically.

I guess I missed that part somehow.
