Its to make sure people get the idea that Mass Effect is no longer an RPG , but is a Gears Of War in space.

I´m glad they removed that shitty resource scanning thing and the hacking process to open doors, but they should also have removed the 'you need to keep buying fuel to travel' part, it´s annoying and doesn´t add anything to the game except..yeah, annoyance.
For about the first 30 hours, after each encounter, I would try to put my gun away as well. He doesn't even lower the gun between fights. Though I do think the combat is the best it has ever been.
I wish there was more interactive dialog with my crew mates. It feels like a lot of my control was taken away from me while talking with them, except the one that comes with the From Ashes DLC.
I am bothered about Emily Wong getting killed off on Twitter, and no mention of her fate in the game.
ME 3 does have major issues, right from the start. I try to import my characters and get the face bug, fine, my face was rather generic anyway. The real problem is that it claims that my renegade character didn't sleep with anyone.... I just feel hurt

I also agree with Tor, the whole war map thing is absolute rubbish; you should be going around re-capturing lost territory, not playing multiplayer to up your 'galactic readiness' (how does that make any sense whatsoever?) Actually, an entirely self-contained, tacked-on multiplayer experience on teeny tiny maps against waves of random enemies having any affect on the single player experience whatsoever is bullshit full stop. And yes, the walking/running animations suck. The in-game engine cut scenes feature terrible animations in general too, and bad lip synching. It's unfortuante, because I actually love the story elements and dialogue scenes, but the poor animations really can detract from the whole experience at times. Also, why do we rarely get any dialogue options whatsoever anymore? It's like one per conversation at the moment. And lordy do I wish someone would put a bullet through Specialist Traynor's head. She makes me cringe everytime she speaks. --- I don't remember Mass Effect 2 having so many issues like this. Myabe it did and nostalgia is clouding my jdugement, in which case they should damn well have improved it all in the two years since ME2. Either way, so far (I'm half way through), Mass Effect 2 is a vastly better game for its time and Mass Effect 3 is slightly disappointing. |
I just played through ME2 a second time before getting 3 and I'm pretty sure it was a little nostalgia. There have been a lot of improvements. Load times, for one, are a lot shorter. Much better combat. You don't have to wait until the end of a mission to get experience. Though I do miss the heavy hitting weapons that you could get in ME2. The side missions are much more fleshed out.

Yeah, I found that as well. My guess it was included as most Reaper-controlled system had Fuel Depots in previous game, and were destroyed when they were conquered. Guessing Bioware wanted to include this but couldn't think of a better way to do it.
The "better combat" bit is quite questionable, though. ME3 does the same thing as DA2 did - it throws tons and tons of ridiculously weak enemies at you, instead of having fewer, more challenging enemies.
I'm loving Mass Effect 3. The only thing that bothers me is the boring squad this time around. ME2 in my opinion had a much better and diverse squad. Then again, ME2 was all about recruiting and building relationships with your squad. That's probably why I feel more attached to the ME2 squad than the ME3 squad.
Also, unlike most people, I actually like the multiplayer. Playing Vanguard on Silver has probably been the most entertaining experience I've had in multiplayer for a long time.
I actually just finished the first Mass Effect. Although I have not played the third one at all (not even the demo) I can see that being extremely annoying to me. Hopefully when I start Mass effect 3, they will have worked out all of these little kinks.
