Forums - Nintendo - Tekken Wii U: 60fps, low image latency, Touchscreen controller as a strategy guide

That is actually a smart use of the Wii U tablet. Its nice to see that 3rd party developers are actually being creative with it, and don't just copy Nintendo, like they did with the Wii Looking forward to trying it out myself ( Tekken and the Wii U that is).

Yeah, GDC is next week, we may hear more, since it seems lately they are making announcements at the show.

There hasn't been a tekken game released since 10 years that doesn't run at 60fps to my knowledge.

Maybe he was talking about 60fps on the controller, because of possible latency problems.

"But one of our major objectives will be to fix the frame rate of our game at 60 so it becomes a match about movements and no longer a match about visuals."

Haleluiah. Well, I don't care if 60fps is the norm for Tekken, what I care about is the direction. To focus on the movements and choreography over visuals is a big plus for a Soul Calibur fan who would like to get into tekken. Visuals can only go so far, I'm glad to see devs dive deeper.

How would he have such intimate access to the hardware, and yet merely "think" that they weren't going to compete graphically?

One also wonders exactly what that means.

With the rumours we've had about the Wii U's hardware the Wii U sounds like the Wii U could be used to produce modest improvements in HD console graphics at 1080p@60fps or significant improvements in HD console graphics at 720p@30fps. I could be wrong but I suspect he is saying that Nintendo won't be pressuring developers to push high end graphics, and Nintendo won't be trying to compete on graphics.

isn't every tekken game ran at 60 FPS ?

latency was an issue?

Hell yes. Too much handwringing goes on about how a game looks. Far more important is how a game feels, and a high framerate is a key component of that "feeling."

If no Wii U game looked better than a PS360 game but every one ran at 60 fps, I'd be a very happy gamer.

Thought it was standard for new age fighters to run at 60fps.

I could have sworn that most people on the forums have claimed more than 30 fps to be redundant in games (the non-PC gaming crowd, that is)...
