The shitty friend code system is still there, but as soon as you've got their codes there's more ways to interact with them than on the Wii. And as far as I know, ad-hoc is not supported.

The rest is pretty much answered.

This is incorrect. There is only one friend code per system which basically works like a gamertag or PSN ID (or now an SEN account).

Wrong, PSN and gamertags accounts dont work like that at all. You can have multiple accounts on one system and you can use one account across different systems(in PSN case). 3DS system sounds more like the Wii one

In a way, you're both right.  True, on PS3 and 360, you can log in with multiple accounts on one system or use the same created account on a different system.  That's where you're right.  Rol is right if you take the PSV (PSP didn't have an ID system) into account.  On that system, it's just one account per device.  Of course, you can use the same account as your PS3 if you choose.  One advantage with the 3DS is that you can change your name at any time.  Not too bad if you ask me.  One guy said having one account per system sounded disasterous.  Both Sony and Nintendo seem to think alike when it comes to portables.  One account and one account only.

Wasnt even thinking about PSV. I dont have one yet and I forgot about the whole one account per console. IMO i think that thing is stupid no matter who is doing it. Especially SOny I like having multiple accounts on PS3 so I can see what the Euro and Japanese stores have to offer.  Can you pick your own friend code on 3DS or is it the same lame things like Wii?

If you're talking about me I said  that "Having one friend code per game is freakin' disastrous". Like if there's one code for SSB Brawl and another for Mario Kart Wii. Big difference.

There are wild rumors of a 3DS redesign but no concrete fact. You are given a friend code per 3DS system not per game. The battery is estimated around 3 hrs per charge if 3D, internet, and lights are fully on. There are several rpgs out for the 3DS: -Shin Megami Tensei -Tales of the Abyss -Heroes of Ruin (coming soon) I think it is a good time to get a 3DS. Nintendo and 3rd party companies are ramping up releases. Much of the features of the 3DS is more fleshed out.

Nah.  Can't pick your own friend code.  I guess, if we could, we'd all have the same number or something.  Think of it like a phone number.  You give it out and that's that.  You can change your name, though.  It's cool if you call yourself something like "Playstaion Gamer" and you change your mind.  I was "Saint Lewis" for a month before going back to being "d21lewis".  My friends all see the change.--oh, @The1, I probably was talking about you.  Sorry if I miaquoted.  Happens when I read an entire thread, sometimes.  I'm posting from my phone and load times are terrible.  I can forget things pretty easily.

Damn oniyide do you seriously try to complain about anything that deals with Nintendo? Oh no!!! One account per system!!! That might be a deal breaker for you but that doesn't really even come up on most consumer's radar. Perhaps if you have kids but then you would probably just have another system for them. Basically, this is a non issue you are trying to blow out of proportion. The 3DS FC is fine and only one account isn't going to mean that many lost sales. Maybe from you but you were never a consumer anyways.
