Well then Sony is doing bad marketing. That is one of the largest gaming age sectors out there.

I got my Vita at Walmart due to a 10% discount I get thanks to someone I know. They only had 4 launch bundles in the case...and no one else showed up to buy one but me. I'm not sure if my area cares too much, or if Walmart is really where people would want to go for it. I'm assuming most people pre ordered, but I didn't want to pay for shipping. Despite that I spent some time close by on near and it looks like there are quite of few people in the area.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

The bigest (and IMO probably the only) mistake that Sony made with Vita is launchig it RIGHT AFTER holiday season. Its the worst possible tim to release new hardware |
I read somewhere that Sony wanted the western launch to be at the same time as the japanese launch but because of the big tsunami in japan they were set back.

Even if it did sell out everywhere, you're forgetting that many stores are not even stocking Vita's, and furthermore the 3G model was withdrawn from sale at JB.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

See my Pic, its a Sport Portuguese Club.
Maybe they didnt have a lot to begin with but its sold out pretty much everywhere here in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada. I was out to pick up Tales of the Abyss, which was sold out at my usual localy own store, where Vita was sold out too. Then I go to Ebgames where I was able to pick up Tales of the abyss, and the guy told me that out of the 3 ebgames shop in my town, there was only 1 Vita left. He told me that future shop was sold out too, but he didnt knew about Wal-mart. He also told me that we was unable to restock for now. That being said, we also need to keep in perspective that QC, Canada, is more Sony friendly then Microsoft friendly.
Edit: 300K population here
No one I actually know got one, or even heard of it. Mentioned in passing a few times, I dropped a comment like "Oh hey guys, Vita launched yesterday" all I got was "it's that PSP2 isn't it?", didn't really go further than that in conversations.
But then again, most of the time personal experience =/= actual happenings, it may have sold out or not, haven't been game shop in a while.
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

It feels like it launched forever ago.
