HD remake of FFVI or FFVII would be a much better offering for JRPG fans than either: FFXIII and now FFXIII-2.

If they consider an HD remake of FFVII to be virtually impossible for them, they have no chance to ever do that for FFVI.

Not only that, most likely it will have different battle system, and things will be shifted around, to correct potiential "errors" in the franchise, mainly after Final Fantasy Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Last Order, and the Original Plot having number of different issues that somewhat conflict with each other. Hell I imagine Cloud will be like Final Fantasy AC Cloud, which would be a total annoyance.

Meh, screw AC Cloud, as long as they don't mess up Sephiroth, everyone else can go to hell in my view

But seriously, I agree with you. There has been so much BS thrown around in the FFVII compilation, that FFVII would no longer be the same game (story and gameplay wise). As for the changes in gameplay, coming from S-E I can expect anything from them, but if they (theoretically speaking) ever made a FFVII remake, one of the few things they shouldn't dare to touch has to be the Materia system. If they did, well then F' em >_>.

I have feeling they would provide a twist to the Materia system, like fusion or something! :P

Again, F' em XD.

They could make the exact same game again in HD, with the exact same story and the characters playing it out exactly the same, with the same battle system and whatnot...If they mess with the Materia system, I won't touch the game even with a 10m long pole

I actually like the battle system in FF13 and FF13-2. It feels good to take a creature, name it, and teach it all kinds of moves.

And most importantly, to dress it up!

That's what my Cait Sith was wearing... until I got the pink fairy wings. OMG! <3

LMFAO!  Mine is wearing that hat, too!

I find it hard to think they could make a remake of FFVII (or FFVI for that matter) and change the story or gameplay system. A graphical improvement is all that is needed. What did they do with the DS remakes of earlier FF games?

On subject, I did not know of this monster training thing, acutally sounds interesting, just a shame I turned off the demo at 'quicktime events', Cringed at that.

Hmm, pie.

I agree. I really hate how fans say "Remake FF7" and somehow Square hears "Remake FF7 with an art style like Advent Children, and with environments/cameras based on FF13"

I would MUCH rather have something similar to the actual game of FF7, except graphics tightened up while retaining their original style (give Cloud eyes, hands, and such, but keep him an FF7 style character and not an Advent Children character), and with other annoyances, such as load times, eliminated.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

See that was based on technological restrictions. The DS remakes typically just reskin, without that much effort. Essentially how remakes should be, but with final fantasy VII (mainly with the introduction of spin-off games), the game won't simply be the same or I think.

Given I would like it if the Turks were given a bigger role! :P

Add: One of the reasons why we know it won't be the same game is how Square phrases the development of the game being massive undertaking. Similar to what the guy above me wrote.

Edit: My comment about the DS games was based on Final Fantasy 3, I do not know that much about Final Fantasy 4.

Oh I agree, though what Acevil posted is on par of what would really happen if they ever remade FF7, S-E will instantly go into BS mode adding and changing things to keep on par with the entire FFVII compilation changes.

I would prefer if they did as you say myself, FFVII doesn't need much changes other than the graphical primming (even for a PS1 game, the graphics were terrible) and some minor technical nuisances (adding orchestrated OST would also be on top of my list, not that MIDI BS that is still on the PSN re-release >_>).

@The Fury - The DS remakes weren't only graphical enhancements, they also added some structural changes to the gameplay as well. FFIII didn't change much, but they added something akin to a Job system on FFIV that didn't really suit the game and the overall battle style was changed to act as a much faster paced ATB system (akin to the late PS1 FFs, such as FFIX). Not that I minded those changes, it just didn't felt right on the spirit of FFIV. Oh, and they upped the difficulty significantly on both games.

The only thing wrong with JRPGs is when they forget their JRPGs and try to appease the western market

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I didn't know that about Final Fantasy IV, I thought it was like Final Fantasy III where almost nothing was changed, just a reskin almost.

It is a good look for him. I might go back to it.

BTW, I want to stick up for the (supposedly) branching conversations! At Bresha when you're getting close to Atlas and realize there's a control device for him, you're given the chance to say a few different things. I chose to ask Mog what he thinks, and he said, "I think... I like Serah better than Noel, kupo!" That destroyed anything I've ever seen in any Bioware shit.

Mog is excessively adorable in this game. Does anyone else like to pick him up just to watch him struggle and make cute noises? I could do that for hours on end.
