Why would Gamestop wanna slow down PSV sales? Are they expecting them to be high anyway?

There's probably something we don't know about.

Starting to think Nintendo launching it at $250 was a tactic all along to trick people into thinking the drop to $170 was incredible. The fact it's going to be profitable by April only backs this up.

Nah, Nintendo really believed they were going to have a similar situation to the Wii on their hands when the 3DS launched, expecting it to sell like gangbusters based on word of mouth and being a must-have item that simply wouldn't stay stocked on shelves for very long.

Of course, they miscalculated badly (and were more than a little greedy in my book).  Had they held it back to say the summer when more software was ready for it, they could have launched it at $199 and still made a pretty penny off it, instead of being forced to slash prices so deep just to keep the things from collecting dust on store shelves and making themselves look like fools in the process.

"they miscalculated badly"

.. hahaha yeh its a miscalculation they will forever regret!.. and it will hurt so bad that their competitor vita will feel the burn instead!

well played eh? .. i wonder who looks like a fool now after the "mistake" nintendo made ..

Brilliant! Finally some cheaper prices. Here's hoping that the release of the Wii U will also result in some strategic price drops in the PS3 and Xbox 360 markets.

You... you made that account and called it that name just because of these news?   o.0

Edit: Just noticed your website, but still...

Nah, the 3DS is already WAY cheaper than Vita at 169 bucks, plus Nintendo are losing money on the system at that pricepoint already. It's most likely just a Gamestop thing they're doing by themselves...

Recently Nintendo has given GameStop US-exclusive retail items, like the 3DS Circle Pad Pro and Xenoblade Chronicles. It’s possible that this is another Nintendo favor, but it’d be a pretty big one.

This orginally confused me as to why Nintendo would do something like this. But after thinking about it. Gamestop (along with EB Game) reports it sales and chains like Wal-Mart doesn't. So Nintendo probally wants to know the market penetration of certian items probally to give its liscensed developers, and units shiped it just has too much of a grey area, to properly report. Plus Gamestop is the a figurative anti-christ.

Downloadable games for the Vita = bad business for gamestop..
it's better for Gamestop if the 3DS crushes the Vita so everybody keeps buying and selling their physical games at GS..
