it pathetic that they need 3rd party games to stay afloat

The Vita strategy will be judged as being pathetic if they do a huge pricecut within a Year of release, until then it's all good.

On another note, said this a while back - PS3 port.

Too bad Sony can’t afford a price cut as they did not plan ahead. If they had sold it at a profit and then reduced it to a small loss it would be different but now if they do they will add loss over the already existing losses

3rd party is the sole reason Sony is in the gaming market.

And Microsoft. And apple. And Nintendo. You make it sound like 3rd parties dont matter at all. .

He just means they matter more for some than others. Had Nintendo weak 1st party offerings, they would have died a long time ago. Understand you aren't wrong, and he's probably not wording it right, but 3rd party isn't all there is to it. If that's what he means, then he's right. No company should solely depend on 3rd parties in general lest, if they have them not, they fail miserably.

Portable 3rd has nothing really to do with Tri you know, 3rd is actually a separate new entry in the series and is basically like Unite only it bases itself on the Tri incarnation of MH, it's not really a version of Tri. 3rd G would be an extended version of Portable 3rd much like Tri G is an extended version of Tri.

I 'm kind of confused? Can you explain more?

What are the differences between monster hunter 3rd and tri?

For one 3rd doesn't have swimming or any underwater missions and plays more like the games before Tri and has a different setting and theme. It's not a version of Tri.

Oh come on Carl, everyone knows that people only care about Mario, that is why it sells 25M copies.

Who cares if Wii has ~90M consoles out there and apparently 65M people didn't give a damn about Mario.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

SONY is lame, They need to start selling there own consoles. Its great Nintendo got MH, but they didnt need it. A mass audience IP is needed for PlayStation products and they need to stop wasting money and time with all that other Junk. Nobody cares about Modnation Racers and that definitely wont change with stripped Vita offering. When will this company step up? They have consoles to sell. Tekken, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear are not there to save them anymore. All these owned developers andthey barely have IP's that sells 5% of PS3 owners and I believe GT5 is the only game that reached 10%.

SONY needs to find a self owned IP that attracts a mass audience regardless of Region to a single game.

They need a real console seller. They need that game everybody will buy by default when they purchase PlayStation products.

They need to start selling PlayStation's
Current IP's are not even close to that.

Nintendo really paid for MH4 exclusivity?

Sony has never been focused on a single game series. They have always believed in diversity. It has paid off. You add up all of Sony franchises and they make a very strong case that combined, Sony games sell systems.

With that said Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Killzone and LittleBigPlanet are Sony biggest franchises right now. The budgets for these game franchises are through the roof.

LittleBigPlanet will continue to grow as a franchise and will likely become a consistent 5 to 6 million selling franchise. Sony PlayStation is currently going through and tightening up the budgets. They have shut down two studios in the last year (after buying one maybe two). I would take Sony's 15 development studios full of young/seasoned talent over Shigeru Miyamoto.

Sony released a flood of high quality titles over 2011 and 2012 looks to do the same for the PS3. Vita struggled in Japan, but more of the titles releasing on the Vita are for the North American and Eurpean markets than they are for the Japanese market.

If Sony just focused on Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Killzone and LittleBigPlanet from here on out I would be greatly disappointed. Because there wouldn't have been a Heavy Rain, Warhawk, White Knight Chronicles, Jeanne D'Arc, Resistance, LocoRoco, Patapon, etc.

Technically if Sony followed what Nintendo has done. It would be Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Gran Turismo and WipeOut. While good series overall, I'm glad Sony spends money on brand new experiences and trying things that Nintendo and Microsoft wouldn't do.

Your Missing the point: SONY cannot sells its own products, Im not taking about diversity of IP reliance. Im taking about games not apealing to enough of it fanbase and its pulling in potential new ones. SONY needs at least 1 Major IP( FF,GTA,POKEMON,DQ,Mario,MH level) to help it sells its OWN consoles. PS4 and Vita will be in trouble if SONY doesn't realize it can no longer rely and 3rd party developer to sells it consoles. THEY have to be that person. NS and Nintendo can sell there consoles... SONY cant
