Xxain said: SONY is lame, They need to start selling there own consoles. Its great Nintendo got MH, but they didnt need it. A mass audience IP is needed for PlayStation products and they need to stop wasting money and time with all that other Junk. Nobody cares about Modnation Racers and that definitely wont change with stripped Vita offering. When will this company step up? They have consoles to sell. Tekken, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear are not there to save them anymore. All these owned developers andthey barely have IP's that sells 5% of PS3 owners and I believe GT5 is the only game that reached 10%.
SONY needs to find a self owned IP that attracts a mass audience regardless of Region to a single game.
They need a real console seller. They need that game everybody will buy by default when they purchase PlayStation products.
They need to start selling PlayStation's Current IP's are not even close to that. |
Sony has never been focused on a single game series. They have always believed in diversity. It has paid off. You add up all of Sony franchises and they make a very strong case that combined, Sony games sell systems.
With that said Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Killzone and LittleBigPlanet are Sony biggest franchises right now. The budgets for these game franchises are through the roof.
LittleBigPlanet will continue to grow as a franchise and will likely become a consistent 5 to 6 million selling franchise. Sony PlayStation is currently going through and tightening up the budgets. They have shut down two studios in the last year (after buying one maybe two). I would take Sony's 15 development studios full of young/seasoned talent over Shigeru Miyamoto.
Sony released a flood of high quality titles over 2011 and 2012 looks to do the same for the PS3. Vita struggled in Japan, but more of the titles releasing on the Vita are for the North American and Eurpean markets than they are for the Japanese market.
If Sony just focused on Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Killzone and LittleBigPlanet from here on out I would be greatly disappointed. Because there wouldn't have been a Heavy Rain, Warhawk, White Knight Chronicles, Jeanne D'Arc, Resistance, LocoRoco, Patapon, etc.
Technically if Sony followed what Nintendo has done. It would be Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Gran Turismo and WipeOut. While good series overall, I'm glad Sony spends money on brand new experiences and trying things that Nintendo and Microsoft wouldn't do.
