Forums - General - English Wikipedia anti-SOPA blackout

Well, I am not donating anymore money to Wikipedia. ****ing irritating. I didn't have an opinion either way, but I think I will support this SOPA thing just because the people who oppose it are now annoying me.

If you knew anything about what is actually going on, you would side with Wikipedia and the anti-SOPA supporters. A few moments of annoyance like this is really nothing compared to what things will be if SOPA is adopted. ¬_¬

I'm way more annoyed by people who complain about things they don't even understand than by those ballsy acts like Wikipedia is gonna do tomorrow.

Get Google and Facebook in on it! It will be a shitty day, but after that, everyone will know the despicable acts that Murdoch and his buddies are trying to sneak in through the back door of congress.

as Hynad said, imagine a great many of your favorite sites suddenly becoming hyper-strict about use of anything you don't fully-own the copyright to, or just being taken offline or driven out of business altogether?

No-one who uses the internet and enjoys it in its current incarnation should be for this bill. Only greedy media moguls and confused old people support SOPA.

Google and Facebook won't do this because they have competitors. Wikipedia is really its own thing. I only use it occasionally so I won't really be affected.

Also SOPA sucks. And so do pirates to begin with.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

It's officially blacked out.

Anyway, I'm looking to contact my representatives and voice my disapproval with SOPA and PIPA.

It's actually kinda lame. If you click to a page on wikipedia and quickly stop it from loading, with good timing you can still see all the articles.

I hope this fails to pass. The more people we put out of work the more my money is worth.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

So which of the big media companies are paying you to think this way? Far more people will be put out of work under SOPA/PIPA than under current levels of piracy. Do you want to watch Silicon Valley move right out of the country because we're no longer a worthwhile place in which to do cyber-business?

Apparently the people who run Wikipedia aren't intelligent enough to outsmart the "stop" button on an internet browser lol!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

hmm yeah i tried it it works perfectly^^  but i think they know it and they didn't want to really kill the site for everyone because they know how important it is for many nowadays. everyone will see it, that was their goal and still everyone can use it.

i mean i don't believe that they don't know it and that they are just to stupid to make a site totally worthless (except other tricks like using cache blabla)
