Forums - Nintendo - Pachter: "Nintendo must stop living in the past"

Pachter gets paid to make dumb predictions and dumb advice without good reason and almost always with poor results.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Is this man for real?

Since I have joined this website He is always talking shit about everything, especially Nintendo... And his analysis... which does not look or impress at all are always wrong.... or not correct.

God bless you Nintendo... you are so good that you are giving job even to people like him!

Switch!!!

You see that's a problem because every one of the big 3 are pushing the same games they have pushed since they started minus a new I p here and there

Pachter should stop being an analyst find a new job he is very bad at predictions and even worst at trying to run company's that he don't own.

It is to early to call cards on Wii U we barely know anything about except its controller and existence.

also , when the Nintendo Wii U does launch give it a year before we start saying its doomed because we should learn our lesson from the 3 DS is doom3d threads before.

This guy must be a shill for some third party developers. All he wants is normalization, that all the consoles are the same, so third parties can easily port from one console to the others.

Yes, he is a shill for third parties.  He basically admitted to it with something he said a year or two ago.  There was a thread about it on this website that I know I posted in.  I might search for it later.

As for the discussion on the Wii U controller, it will be easy for third parties to use.  It is just a standard controller with a touch screen in the middle.  Third parties have no excuse.

I could not find the exact post I was looking for, since it happened back in early 2010.

The basics are:

  • Pachter continously calls for price cuts to hardware so that more software can be sold.
  • He said that publishers should be selling their games for more than $60 because they are worth more than that.
  • He said that third parties should start charging mothly fees for online play.
  • When EA started to charge buyers of used games to unlock content, he said that they should have made it more.
All that and more add up to the fact that everything Pachter says "should" happen to make the industry better in his eyes are all great things for third party publishers.

Actually I agree with what he said as well, Nintendo's gonna limit more on what 3rd party developers can do, Nintendo's software sales lately have all been dependent on their first party games and on some casual games like Just Dance, there's not a single decent third party game I can think of that was considered a success like some of the GCN games (i.e. RE4 , SC2 and ToS for example).

People who say third party support wont determine the success of the Wii are absolutely wrong, they may of been successful with the Wii, but with the Wii-U its hard to determine that, I wouldnt be surprised if there would be less sales or less third party games compared to the Wii (which would be sad).

This generation obviously Sony and Microsoft had MORE better games on their systems than what the Wii had, hopefully the gap wont be that huge for the next gen but with the direction their going it doesnt seem like that...

Edit: Oh I dont agree with the "Living in the Past" quote though, its more like "Living too far into the future" imo.

Quite a few successful third party games. Just depends on what YOU mean by 'decent' and 'success'

Epic Mickey is well over 2 million.

MH3 is the biggest console version of Monster Hunter at over 2 million.

GoldenEye is slowly creeping towards 2 million as are a few of the Call of Duty titles.

There are others.

Also, did you know that RE4 sold more on Wii than GC? It has so far sold more than 2 million on the white box of misery and joy.

Yes.

Yeah, Patcher, say that now that Nintendo is gaining respect for the things it's doing now and for the future.

He clearly has a point, There is confusion about the WiiU pad remote and until that is clarified then 3rd party support will be hampered.

His point is not valid. He is confused about it, not third parties. His confusion has never been relevant to anyone except a small group of videogame journalists.

And Patcher must shut his mouth!

This guy it's starting to be one year later in his topics.
