Here is the guy who wanted Nintendo to sell the 3DS 300$.

I think that the Wii U supporting the Wiimote is the perfect counter argument to him. The Wiimote is the controller the most sold of the current generation and developper are familiar with it.

LOL that is some funny logic right there. There have been more 3rd party studios working on HD hardware this gen than Wii. So what has Wiimotes sold got to do with anything?

A number of developers arnt familiar with the Wiimote, or at least nowhere near the level of joypads (Bethesda, Take two). That doesn't change the fact these devs are going to have to get to grips with the tablet controller (which will be the main selling point off the WiiU, not wii motes ..)

You don't even know HD consoles don't have the same controller?

I'm well aware of that, are you aware their functions are practically identicle 0_o

(have you even picked up either)

Now, in fairness, I think the Wii U controller is probably going to be a lot closer in functionality to traditional game pads.

Yes, it has the screen, but the screen is relatively easy to deal with and doesn't require significant investment. Throw a world/area map on there, Bethesda. Done. It doesn't present quite the same problems as trying to integrate motion controls and the IR pointer.

Isn't the touch screen on the Wii U resistive? I always hated those kinds of touch screens personally and they better make the hardware decent or people will just stick joysticks on the iPad 4 and say that the graphics are just as good!

Tease.

Nintendo touchscreens are probably going to continue to be resistive, at least partially because resistive touch screens are more accurate in a smaller area.

But you have podgy fingers anyway.

I don't get it with the whole unique controller thing. Once again, Pacther is blinded by his Nintendo hate with his "limited third party launch support". Seem very simple to me. The controller will have the menu's while leaving the TV clutter free. This template was laid by Nintendo with the Zelda demo.

The Wii U and its tablet is a superb idea (too bad it will be a generation late technically, which is the most fearing part of their WiiU), but I don't understand : will they sell the console with only one controller (which is not unusual with past consoles) or will the WiiU be not compatible with more than one controller ? Which would be suicidal !

Originally it was going to be compatible with only one controller. But Nintendo been said that they were reworking the Wii U so that it would be compatible with more than one tablet.

This guy must be a shill for some third party developers. All he wants is normalization, that all the consoles are the same, so third parties can easily port from one console to the others.

Yes, he is a shill for third parties.  He basically admitted to it with something he said a year or two ago.  There was a thread about it on this website that I know I posted in.  I might search for it later.

As for the discussion on the Wii U controller, it will be easy for third parties to use.  It is just a standard controller with a touch screen in the middle.  Third parties have no excuse.

We can all agree that pachter doesnt know much about gaming. 3DS is a sucess and the Wii U will be just fine and will more than cater for its wii audience
