Forums - Nintendo - Pachter: "Nintendo must stop living in the past"

Here is the guy who wanted Nintendo to sell the 3DS 300$.

I think that the Wii U supporting the Wiimote is the perfect counter argument to him. The Wiimote is the controller the most sold of the current generation and developper are familiar with it.

LOL that is some funny logic right there. There have been more 3rd party studios working on HD hardware this gen than Wii. So what has Wiimotes sold got to do with anything?

A number of developers arnt familiar with the Wiimote, or at least nowhere near the level of joypads (Bethesda, Take two). That doesn't change the fact these devs are going to have to get to grips with the tablet controller (which will be the main selling point off the WiiU, not wii motes ..)

Living in the past? What do you mean?
Nintendo already did so many innovation in gaming history, industry and inspired a lot of people.
I can making a list Nintendo product and their innovation here.

I wish it was the past. I want to go back to a world with just Sega and Nintendo consoles. I want Nintendo's machines to be about Nintendo games and nobody complain about it because Nintendo games are all you need to enjoy a Nintendo console.

I just don't understand where they are going with the controller. I like that its innovative and all, but only one person being able to use a tablet and all others having to use a Wiimote is mind-boggling to me. It'll be like going over to a friend's house getting gimped with a controller with less features while your friend has all these tablet functionalities against you. Plus this must be unnecessary work for the publishers having to design two different control schemes just to support local multiplayer on a console (dual analog AND motion).

You don't even know HD consoles don't have the same controller?

I too don't get it although I love Patcher. The Wii didn't get any multiplatforms and yet was extremely successful so why would Wii U need them?

Pachter is the worst analyst, he is a legend like Uwe Boll in the film-making !

The Wii U and its tablet is a superb idea (too bad it will be a generation late technically, which is the most fearing part of their WiiU), but I don't understand : will they sell the console with only one controller (which is not unusual with past consoles) or will the WiiU be not compatible with more than one controller ? Which would be suicidal !
