Since people continue to claim PS3 undertracked during holidays and 360 overtracked (and most that say this believe by 100s of thousands.) I repost this from 3 days ago. postoffficebuddy dug up the individual weekly threads from last year November and December.  I then used excel to produce the information below the links.

Summary: PS3 was adjusted 3,713 up and 360 adjusted down 88,663. The 360 adjustment down was solely because of the reported sales for the week after Christmas where 360 was in incredibly short supply.  Without that week the 360 adjustments were up nearly 100,000.

Looks like the PS3 from BF through the end of the year was adjusted net up of 3,713.

Looks like the 360 from BF through the end of the year was adjusted net down 88,663 which can be attributed nearly all to the final week when VGC was not yet aware of 360 shortages. Actually prior to that final week the adjustments were net up 99,169.

Actually, now I remember thanks to SolidSnake08.  I'm petty sure it was mostly undertracked in Sept-Oct due to VGC underestimating the impact from the Move launch.  But then we got tracking numbers from Nintendo, which showed that the PS3 was actually outselling the 360, when we had the 360 previously outselling it.  By the time Black Friday and December rolled around, they had got their tracking more in line to what it was actually selling.

So then you are willing to say that there is no reason to assume one way or another that PS3 adjustments will be any more or any less than 360 adjustments that may or may not be made over the next couple of months?

Well, considering they had the PS3 undertracked by ~150K in the US alone last month, I wouldn't exactly say there is no reason for doubt.  All I know is that since I have been a member, when it comes to adjustments the PS3, for the most part, is adjusted up, while the 360 is usually spot on or dropped down slightly.  Of course, I'm not going to go around posting undertracked without an actual reason, which I will admit some do.  Like last month I was saying the PS3 was undertracked, which it was.  But my reasoning was that after doing the math, the amount of stock of holiday bundles in each store would have been too low for Black Friday.

And those adjustment has already been made.  I would not be surprised at all if the VGC numbers in December dont match up with the NPD numbers. I would not be surprised one bit to see the 360 numbers on VGC to low.  With all the great deals on the 360 that were available the past two weeks I expected the 360 lead on the PS3 to grow. I expected the 360 to hit 3 million in the US in December.  Still I am not going to include that in the speculation threads that go on day to day, week to week.  I also believe that PS3 numbers were tracked low because Sony was so quiet after Black Friday weekend leading to the belief that the PS3 didnt do so well.  Before people go well PS3 will then be undertracked as well in December there is 1 key difference between Black Friday and December for the PS3 and that is the lack of the Black Friday bundle for $200.

Fable 3 getting big sales combined with this being same price as normal 250gig 360 mean heavy bundling

Uncharted 3 getting big sales combined with this being the same price as normal 320gig PS3 means amazing sales?

Someone explain to me why the crowd that goes on and on about heavily bundled games isn't complaining about uncharted 3? Why is it if 360 fans dare praise the sales of Fable, or Forza, they get laughed at, but the uncharted series gets praise about its sales despite always getting heavily bundled from the day it comes out.

Uncharted 3 is getting bundled but no where near the amount of bundling MW3, Halo CER and Mario and some other games are getting this holidays. Nevertheless these game mentioned above (MW3, Halo and Uncharted) will all sell well with our without bundles. Fable and Forza on the other hand sell like crap intially and start pounding over 200k a week a year after launch? They get either given away for free or with another super hit game. Like Fable 3/ Halo Reach.  Also the Uncharted 3 bundle is for a limited time similar to MGS4 bundle. But if you were talking about LBP I would agree with you.

Huh?? Halo CEA hasn't been bundled anywhere, Mario isn't extensivly bundled from what I know, and neither is MW3 now (all the console bundles seem to be gone according to Major Nelson on Black Friday)

I Spoke to BenVTrigger who works high up at Gamestop, and he said Uncharted 3 is doing amazing due to the bundles, but standalone, poor.

Well where I live (Toronto) Gamestop (Eb games), Wall mart and even bestbuy have plenty of Halo, Mario and MW3, Gears of War bundles. No doubt Uncharted 3 is also bundled but what exclusive game this holiday season isn't? And I understand you live in the U.K. but in the U.S.A. or Canada this is not the case. I have a buddy who works at bestbuy in the U.S.A.  (In new York) and he knows some big guys as his brother works at a high position and according to him  most big games are getting bundled and Uncharted is actually ranking fairly low in the top games that sell with bundles but is selling much more standalone copies. But then again he said most people who are buying a new PS3 are buying the UC3 bundle as its one of the most popular bundles out there. Games like Gears of War 3, Mario, Little Big Planet are the most bundled and aren't selling too great standalone but selling great with bundles. Forza, Fable and a couple other games would be dead zero even in the U.S.A. if they don't have the mass bundling they do now according to him. And for some strange reason I never asked him about Halo when I met him last time but I see a lot of bundling for this game whenever I go to any electronic stores.

You sir are talking out of your ass.

I don't think your doing any different either. Many people are mistaking me or just too lazy to read my whole post. Forza sells less than 200k in its first month in the U.S.A. and sells over 4 million just two years later? And I'm always keen on reading Bestbuy, Futureshop, EB games (Gamestop) flyers and I had seen so many Forza bundles (2, 3 and now 4 as well) getting bundled massivly. Agreed Fable 2 and Fable 3 did start out pretty decently but soon became massively bundled with other hit after the holidays with other games for free (More so Fable 3). Halo and Gears of War were also bundled massivly but even without bundles they still sell great due to their huge fanbase and online community. Don't get me wrong but many PS3 games are also heavily bundled such as LBP, Resistance Fall of Man, Uncharted DF but eneograge or whatever his name is was wrong to just pinpoint "Uncharted 3" only sells with bundles and is one of the most hevaily bundled games" (he does hate on PS3 just look at his eariler posts) is clearly BS and that too right after it sells over 700k in the U.S.A. in it's first month and Sony stating "it doubled Uncharted 2's week one sales in its first week".  My point is sure Uncharted 3 is bundled but what big exclusive game that came out this holiday season or probably in the last couple of years isn't? That's why games like Gears of War, Uncharted, Halo, e.t.c. are called system sellers. PS3 just had its biggest November in the U.S.A. and one of those reasons could be Uncharted 3. Can't it?

i believe fable 2 got a bundle in may 2009 and it was released october 2008. after 10 weeks it sold almost 2 million without bundles. whoever says this game series isn't selling good lives on another planet... it doesn't sell like halo or so but for this kind of game sales are very good.

and why isn't uncharted one of the most heavily bundled games? this game was bundled few weeks after release no clue what this means but for me this means it is a hugely bundled game. if i would buy a ps3 it's almost clear i would buy this bundle. it is a good game and i get it for free. hell we even had the uncharted+headset bundle from day one (at least here in germany).

no clue how someone can say it isn't one of the most bundled games. and why do you say in your first post it doesn't sell so much as bundle like other games but stand alone it sells very good and in the next you say it's a system seller many buy a ps3 for this game? so you think it's a system seller but these people don't buy the bundle they only buy a ps3 and a stand alone uncharted or what? ok i understand, uncharted sells consoles but the console bundle doesn't sell good because this would mean uncharted without bundle doesn't sell so good. yeah, nice try...

don't get me wrong i don't say uncharted doesn't sell without bundles but it sells much more because of these bundles and releasing a bundle few weeks after release in holiday season should be a sign for everyone that this will increase the sales a lot.

and talking about forza 4, yes the sales aren't very high but it is still only a racing game and for that sales aren't so bad. you can't compare it with gt because gt has the status to sell good even if it would be crap (which isn't the case). gt is a exception in the racing genre if it comes to sales.

It still seems to me that VGC is more accurate at tracking the 360 in most regions when compared to the PS3.  Either way, I guess we'll just have to wait til NPD and shipment numbers in January.  I do agree it is ridiculous for people to continue to bring it up when we only have a few weeks before NPD comes out to compare it to our numbers.

surprised this thread hasnt turned into an ALL OUT WAR YET!!

binfuckingo!! someone actually remembers. im pretty sure seece remembers aswell but doesnt want to admit it. ps3 was adjusted upwards by almost a million, something like 700-800k. thats what making a lot of people say ps3 is undertracked. it has nothing to do with conspiracies or vgchartz being fanboys but its vgchartz own history that almost guarantees ps3 will see upwards adjustment the most next time shipments are in.

Ahh, even with holiday numbers 360 is still kicking wii's butt. That is the way it is supposed to be. I love it!

We going to get new numbers this week? Or do we wait til the first week of 2012 for those numbers?

Uncharted 3 getting big sales combined with this being the same price as normal 320gig PS3 means amazing sales?

Someone explain to me why the crowd that goes on and on about heavily bundled games isn't complaining about uncharted 3? Why is it if 360 fans dare praise the sales of Fable, or Forza, they get laughed at, but the uncharted series gets praise about its sales despite always getting heavily bundled from the day it comes out.

Difference is that people will buy that 360 bundle for the 3months of free xbox gold and halo reach, noone is buying it for fable. With the uncharted 3 bundle people actually want to play uncharted 3. Hence Fable 3 is piggybacking on the complete bundle, its not moving the bundle because people actually want it. Its a good way for MS to give some shine to a game that isn't that popular.

Because you know all right? People that buy the bundle buy it for both games and 3 months gold to a much lesser extent. What is with the people saying the Fable series is not a popular? Fable 3 sold slightly over 3 million without bundles and Fable 2 has sold almost 4 million. It's one of the most popular WRPG series.

Nobody is buying that bundle for Fable 3 dont lie to yourself. Fable 3 has been bundled for a long time and Fable 2 sales are pretty much all due to excessive bundling.

Neither Fable II (~880k) or III (~900k) sold over a million copies in the first week so stop drinking that MS juice. Unless we round up by hundreds of thousands now a days for MS exclusives.

MW3 and Gears 3 are bundled, the $100 premium is for the extra controller and the custom paint job etc. To tell me that the game is not discounted in that bundle is foolish.

MS kids just stop it....stop it

So can you give me solid evidence folks are not buying the bundle for both games, but just Reach? I have a very strong feeling that your just talking out your ass. Your acting like most of Fables sales are from bundles, which is complete crap. Fable 2 was bundled slightly with Halo 3 for a very short while during spring.

What does week 1 sales have to do with anything? So if a game doesn't sell over a million the first week it has crap sales. Well then 95% of ps3 exclusives would be in this category.

Fable 3 sold slightly over 3 million before the bundles and Fable 2 has 3.99 million. Nothing crappy about that. Stop being a hater and accept the fact Fable is a very big franchise, and sells on it's own. Obviously not as big as Halo, but how many franchises are? Fable 3 would have hit 4 million on it's own anyway.

There is a reason this game is bundled with a Halo game. If you cant figure it out then God help you.

My week 1 comment was in response to someone who claimed that Fable 2 and 3 sold well over 1 million in the first week. I understand that games have legs and first week sales dont really mean much in terms of lifetime with particular IP's. That 95% number is hilarious though, I am assuming you have solid evidence for that right.

Fable 3 sales piggyback off of Halo and bundling. Stand alone it would not sell this well. If you believe it would put up the numbers it has in the past few weeks if it wasn't bundled, then again I say God help you.

Lol just like you proved that everyone bought uncharted 3 bundle for the game right? Uncharted 3 sure is under selling considering $ony is throwing it in with a ps3
